CRAB ISLAND is another independent feature from Scots director Robbie Moffat. This one's about an isolated island inhabited by an old fellow and his three daughters; shades of ROBINSON CRUSOE in the plot, although with the human conflict that emerges I was also reminded of KING LEAR. As usual for a Moffat film, the costumes are nice but the story long-winded with little incident, leaving this more of a mood piece than anything else. The static camera-work helps little with that.
