Shoot them
keithmaulden24 December 2018
Trap them, and when they're caught in your trap, walk up to them with a rifle and SHOOT THEM. Guns not legal in the area? Get em with a tranquilizer first.

Oh wait, that wouldn't be dramatic. But it wouldn't be as stupid as guys discussing the strategy of how to approach the hog with sticks and a machete.

Stupid

How stupid can a show get? Shoot them, trap them then shoot them that's what we've been doing for years.... where I live we are infested with pigs, we kill them any time, any where, with anything, every chance we get..

The result of years utter stupidity

First hunters and ranchers wiped out all apex predators, for sport or other nonsensical reasons. Then when other species naturally grow out of control, instead of opting for the obvious solution of restoring the natural balance by re-introducing said predators, we get nonsense such as what you see on Hogs gone Wild: a bunch of idiots filling up their freezers under the guise of conservation. The line of reasoning that leads these people to believe that hunting, trapping and poisoning animals is the way to go is not only ignorant, but simply dangerous. It's the same line of logic that has led to deforestation, habitat loss, extinct species and degradation of biodiversity all over the world.

You are obviously an idiot that knows nothing about feral hogs. These creatures are not native to America. They were brought here hundreds of years ago by explorers. Some pigs (brought by people settling in the new world) also escaped from domestic settings and joined the population over the years. A female can breed up to 4 times a year with an average of about 10 per litter (can be significantly more) starting at just 6 months old. They are capable of razing a 100+ acre field overnight. They carry diseases that can be transmitted to other animals and people. They destroy the ecological system, kill other wildlife, and take food other wildlife need. They destroy everything in their path. Yes, farmers see the most destruction because their crops are being destroyed and the hogs are moving in where animals are for the feed. However, they have been in the middle of towns, people's backyards, and on nature trails. They can easily killed someone not prepared to deal with them. There is NOTHING at this time that will come anywhere close to truly controlling the hog population, let alone eradicating these creatures. These people, and others, are simply trying to protect other people, animals, and crops.
