Proof that 'The Room' was a lucky one-off
julemanden417 April 2011
After The Room became popular in 2009-2010, Tommy Wiseau got lots of publicity and everyone praised him for his genius. However, I had always suspected that he really wanted 'The Room' to be a drama, but then changed it to black comedy because of the reception(Smart move, Tommy). This movie proves that he has no idea what he is doing. This is him trying to redo the amazing one-off he achieved with 'The Room'. The House That Drips Blood On Alex ends up becoming a forced piece of unfunny black comedy. You can almost feel the bad humor being forced on the movie. 3/10 because it is slightly entertaining, but only because of the extreme bizarre choices Tommy Wiseau has made with this. It makes no sense, and the twist at the end is actually pretty hilarious because it comes out of nowhere. That's why it gets a 3/10. Tommy Wiseau has shown how much of a talentless hack he is.

Entertaining but very predictable
unclezoltan13 September 2017
It's entertaining rubbish, this short seems like something that someone from a University class would create. The editing, directing and acting is very amateur, although the camera operator seems to have an idea of what they're doing. I knew what the end was gonna be like before I saw it because it is very reminiscent of early horror b-movies. The most jarring thing from this short is the set design as it is incredibly poor and obviously done on a very half asked low budget. Although, it's Tommy Wiseau and it's expected from anyone exploiting his talent to make an intentionally bad or cheap movie.

I'd love to see Tommy make another 'larger' budget movie and see how he fairs in the quality of it.

Wiseau makes (and sinks) the movie
Horst_In_Translation9 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
"The House That Drips Blood on Alex" is a 14-minute short film from 5 years ago written and directed by Brock LaBorde and Jared Richard. The real star, however, is lead actor Tommy Wiseau, who plays the title character. Alex moves in a house where randomly blood is dropping off the ceiling. What may be the reason? I must say this is not a completely bad movie from start to finish. Direction and script are occasionally bearable, all in all mediocre and you could see that LaBorde and Richard at least have some experience in the business, even if they certainly are not particularly talented either from what you see here. But the biggest weakness of the film is Wiseau, no doubt about it. His constant screaming "Thomas" and hammy over-acting makes this truly painful to watch. His movie "The Room" is sort of considered a trash classic, but I am not sure if you can say the same about this one here. Maybe it's really just trash. Wiseau turned 60 a couple days ago and watching this one here makes me hope that he is retired now. Not recommended.

Ripe - like cow pies in the sun

Warning: Spoilers
Wow. I don't often like to give a super negative review, even if I can't stand a movie, but just wow, wow... incredible.

Tommy Wiseau is the worst actor I've ever seen, including all the amateur theatre I've seen; those who think The Room is actually good, you're mental, it's horrible and only popular because it's such trash, and this is no better. I give Wiseau credit- he isn't afraid to do what he wants, be who is. It just can't make up for terrible acting to be willing to make terrible films.

My favourite, terrible moment is when Wiseau finds a corpse (you'll see whose it is...)- his screaming and wailing is the funniest thing I've seen in awhile. Even if he was trying to actually parody some horror films (Blair Witch comes to mind ONLY because he has a big bulky flashlight in his hands at the time), the acting is still garbage. Watch a Mel Brooks movie if you want to see good actors actually executing parody correctly; this is just despicable really. The acting, mostly from Wiseau, goes beyond parody, and into embarrassment. And none of the actors are doing any real parody, though some are slightly better than Wiseau.

The writing is no better than the acting. Though the idea is funny, and if it were written well it could possibly be executed, the writing, with no help from the delivery of the actors (not only Wiseau), is just simply bad. The jokes are lame, it's all sloppy- an absolute mess.

Maybe if Wiseau wasn't in it, the writers didn't try SO hard to parody things (and failed miserably), it could've stood a chance to be a decent little horror parody, but unfortunately it was all doomed. I'm not trying to discourage the filmmakers because I'm sure they had their hearts in the right place, they just didn't have their heads in the mix either. 1 out of 10 stars because I can't give it a 0 rating; at least there was a little blood going on, I guess.

I don't think Wiseau is serious
daniella4226 January 2014
Whether or not he was ever trying to make serious movies is still up for debate, but I think that this movie must have been made in an attempt to duplicate the success he had with The Room, by trying to make it as bad as possible in similar ways to The Room. He must know that everyone only watches his movies for comedy by now. The movie itself looks like it was filmed with someone's cell phone camera. The "characters" don't exist for any other purpose besides spitting out dialogue and nothing in the plot is explained. When the movie ends you are more confused than you were in the first few minutes. Even the title is stupid and completely over the top. I just can't believe that someone could put out something like this and call it a movie unless they were mentally ill.

The Man that drips gold on film
mynamerawr237 March 2014
He did it again. Tommy Wiseau has once again proved himself to be the best actor the world has ever seen. While his directing and producing skills are undeniable his acting was put into question in this film. But do you know what? He turned to that question and said a big f**k you. His acting was purely flawless in yet another hit film which is unappreciated. The dialogue in this will have you laughing and crying at the same time. This movie will also strike down into your soul with how horrifying it is. The end will leave you terrified but wanting it to be longer. This movie also includes addressing things such as disfigurements of the imagination, drugs, cancer and Tommy Wiseau's face

Entertaining short
nemesis47-110 November 2010
Tommy Wiseau's movie "The Room" brought so much attention only because it is so bad. Now after watching " The House That Drips Blood On Alex" I see a bright future for Tommy in kitsch and schlock business. I think after "The Room" Tommy realized that his has talent for crap , but entertaining crap. This short has it all for Tommy "fans" his catchphrase "oh hi", acting on par with his masterpiece I mentioned earlier. Movies like these should continue to emerge. As long as they are entertaining. I recommend this short movie for viewers that know how to appreciate crap. I wish you good luck Tommy! I hope to see that in the future you will make another feature movie.

The House That Drips Blood ON MY SOUL!
tominator-armstrong7 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Wow. Tommy Wiseau has, yet again, made my life worthwhile. He came to us in 2003 with "The Room", the best hour and forty minutes of my life, and now he brings us this artistically profound short film.

We begin our transforming journey in a cinema, which realistically only has three people in it, and already the tone for an incredible horror/comedy is set. Tommy Wiseau masterfully tells his character's tale using his typical, breathtaking acting; making us laugh, cry, and fall in love. After all, love is blind. He verbally crafts this short film with lines that resound through your very core. He will be remembered for his acting in this one.

The story revolves around a controversial topic that encompass us all in curiosity and fear. The protagonist; Alex, undergoes an important change in his life when he moves to the chillingly named "Blood Street", which already represents the tale of terror we are about to lovingly endure. The topic of the movie, although simple, symbolizes everything wrong with society, human nature, and the universe itself. This message is not understood by the brain of the viewer... It is felt in the soul. "It's just paint from the door, Thomas." Consider this, is this what Tommy Wiseau wants to believe? Or is it what society wants him to believe?

With an astounding cast, a life-changing story and a plot-twist at the end which will make you spasm in realization, "The House That Drips Blood On Alex" is an absolute must see.

I had to re-evaluate my choices and my views on life itself for three days before entering my own house once more after seeing this short film. And even then, I still sleep with one eye open. Once again, Tommy Wiseau has guided me out of the darkness, and into the light. I owe him my soul.

'Moving house can be a real killer!'
Weirdling_Wolf11 May 2022
While the majority of fright fans tracking down this bemusingly bonkers B-comedy short will no doubt be solely doing so for the laudable lunacy of watching the deliciously skewed Teutonic Thespian Tommy Wiseau manifest his singularly bizarre approach to acting! Whimsically written and directed by Brock LaBorde & Jared Richard, this short, but perfectly formed ketchup-slathered riff on Amicus/Hammer House of Horror finds the weirdly ingenuous Alex (Tommy Wiseau) guilelessly making a Faustian pact with a magnificently Mephistophelean landlord (my favourite scene!), and not long after moving his meagre affairs into the somewhat inauspicious-looking property on 3 Blood Street, pronounced 'blued street', Alex is promptly anointed in blood spatter, while initially acting oblivious to this malign crimson leakage, his, like, totally concerned bros ardently advise the increasingly distressed Alex to Nancy Drew the cellar to see what gives, dude!...and therein lies the grisly genesis of Alex's sanguinary malaise! There's a pleasingly garish Troma Films/John Waters quality to this horror/comedy short that I found enormously appealing, and the opening scene with the landlord is entirely delicious!

'There's always room for more Tommy Wiseau, dude!' - TerrorTarot / BuxomBloodfiends.

The King of Kitsch movies did it again
BorisUlianov23 June 2017
Let's face it: Tommy Wiseau is a peculiar genius. Any movie done by him so far is a gold mine, with thousands of fans watching them.

The House that Drips Blood on Alex is a short horror movie that can and should be cataloged as kitsch. Over the top acting, comic scenes along with a dark plot makes this movie a new pearl that is a must for any fan of Wiseau.

Oh, and the plot twist at the ending was brilliant; you cannot deny it.

A Decent Short, Spooky Story
dodgecameron-430592 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This wasn't that bad. It's obviously supposed to be a horror comedy, from the almost certainly on purpose hoaky lines, to the awkward charm that is clearly trying to recapture the magic that made "The Room" beloved (but this time on purpose). Plus, it was made by a comedy group. This is all to say that it's supposed to seem weird, awkward, and a bit bad. It's part of the comedy and the charm, and in that sense, I think it succeeds.

The story is pretty good, just one of those little tales you tell your friends, like the hookman or the babysitter killer. Sure, it's not anything we haven't seen before, but it doesn't need to be. It's just a nice little scary story.

On to the main selling point, Tommy Wiseau. I actually think Tommy's improved on his acting here. Sure, it's still not great, but it is better than it was, if only marginally. He's still a bit stilted in his delivery, but none of it had to be ADR'd (at least, as far as I can tell), which is an improvement. Plus, the directors/writers knew how to make the best use of his (admittedly limited) skillset.

I really liked that near-psychedelic dream sequence. Almost reminds of some of the more LSD like sequences in a Ken Russell film like "Lair of the White Worm". It's just a nice little touch that helps add a bit more flavor and color to the film.

There aren't many effects, mostly just the titular dripping blood, but said blood looks nice. The skeleton at the end also looks pretty good, with graying, decayed skin and ragged hair still clinging to the skull. Again, it's nothing to write home about, but it's pretty good, and it works for the film.

Anyways, there are far, far worse horror and horror comedy movies out there. This one was well shot, decently paced, and was entertaining to the end. Here's hoping Tommy's upcoming horror-comedy continues this trend. 7/10.
