Even if one hasn't seen any of the films by director Kat Coiro, it's almost impossible to not admire her amazing rise in the past few years, creating two shorts and three features since 2010, beginning with her short "Idiots" and the premiere of her first feature length "L!fe Happens," at the 2011 Los Angeles Film Festival. Coiro is hardly a new face to Tribeca, her second film "While We Were Here," premiered at the festival just one year ago in 2012, but now she returns with her third full length feature "A Case of You," starring Justin Long, Evan Rachel Wood, and Peter Dinklage among others. What it's about: "'A Case Of You' is a romantic comedy written by Justin Long, Christian Long and Kier O'Donnell that centers on Sam (Justin Long) who admires Birdie (Evan Rachel Wood) from afar but doesn't have the self-confidence to approach her. The time has once again come for the Academy Awards, with tonight’s show hosted by Family Guy creator and Ted director Seth MacFarlane. I am not particularly excited in seeing MacFarlane on hosting duties, nor in this year’s awards, as they all seem fairly predictable as we head into the evening. But 2012 brought with it a very strong crop of nominees, and here’s hoping some good films are honored as the show goes along.
I will be live-blogging the entire event from start to finish – minus all the red carpet stuff, as there is only so much I can make myself interested in – starting tonight at 8:30 Et/7:30 Ct/5:30 Pt. I am in Denver, Colorado, on Mountain Time, and the show will begin at 6:30 here. For the sake of simplicity, I will be using my own local time codes, so do not get confused...

Kate Bosworth is preparing to shoot "Untitled Italy Project" -- her third movie with director Kat Coiro. The movie is about Jane Byrne, a married woman played by Bosworth who, while writing a memoir about her grandmother, begins an affair with the 19-year-old Caleb on the Italian island of Ischia. Byrne's husband, Leonard, played by Iddo Goldberg, is a tightly-wound viola player from London. Coiro co-wrote and directed "L!fe Happens," also with Bosworth. That movie premieres at this weekend's Los Angeles Film Festival. She also directed the Funny or Die short "Idiots,"...

"L!fe Happens," which screens June 18 and 21 at the L.A. Film Festival, is about two best friends whose lives change when one of them gets pregnant. It was born from the friendship between actors and co-writers Krysten Ritter ("She's Out of My League," "Breaking Bad") and Kat Coiro ("Murdering Mama's Boy," "Idiots"). The writing partners were driving through L.A.'s Rampart district with Coiro's baby in the back seat when inspiration struck. Recalls Ritter, "These guys pulled up next to us, and we're silly and we're kind of making eyes at them, and then the baby cries. And we're like 'Oh, my God, that's it!' So [Coiro's] real-life baby really inspired this whole story and journey in our lives." Ritter and Coiro had been trying to create something in the vein of "Swingers" for women. Ritter says, "We were finding a lot of double standards where you can't have girls.
