That's One Big Desk!
Hitchcoc8 October 2021
Two very funny plot elements. First of all, we are let in on why Bernadette and Howard broke up. We also see what goes on in his room. A couple of science fiction starts, including the gay George Takei, offer him advice. Secondly, Raj talks Sheldon into letting him have a desk in his office if he pays for it. This leads to some great back and forth.

The Hot Troll Deviation (#4.4)

Warning: Spoilers
Happy to see Howard and Bernadette back together again! I really loved the reason that they broke up. So Howard! The episode would have been better without George Takei. He is so annoying and acts so abnormally. Don't bring him back!

Howard gets a fine showcase in "The Hot Troll Deviation" ep of "The Big Bang Theory"
tavm1 October 2011
In this last season ep of "The Big Bang Theory": At the Cheesecake Factory, Howard sees ex-girlfriend Bernadette at a distance and hides under the table. It seems even after months after the breakup, he didn't tell why it happened. He later explains it to Penny after tricking her to open the door using Sheldon's voice on a recorder calling her name three times and knocking as much. I won't reveal it here so let's go on. Oh, and he also has dream encounters with Katee Sackhoff and...George Takei?...Hilarious ep with a welcome return of Melissa Rauch as Bernadette. And the convo between Sheldon and Raj is priceless here. So on that note, "The Hot Troll Deviation" comes highly recommended.

This one hits the ball out of the park

There are certain episodes of great shows that leave me in tears every time I see them, if I have a bad day it makes very easy to put anything into perspective. These are those moments that define great comedy entertainment. In my case; The Star Mitzvah episode of Frasier in the 90's, Dan Ackroyd as Fred Garvin on SNL in the 70's, this episode of Big Bang Theory (B.B.T.) In the Hot Troll Deviation everyone's characters are "spot on" (yes I am Quoting Raj) the guest stars are hilarious and just work so well in the show. You don't see Amy or Sheldon's Mother, Lauri Metcalf who just kills in her cameo role but I don't think you could fit either of them in. This is why I love this show, timing, writing, guest stars the science topics. The B.B.T. just shines and doesn't seem to get dull. OK, I am a geek that probably helps a lot.

Everything in this episode works. Raj's desk bit is laugh out loud funny. When this episode is on I always watch. Hey Heather. Tjis is one of the best episodes.

An episode I can't criticise

Everything about this episode is amazing. Raj bests Sheldon at his own game, Howard provides immeasurable entertainment value and Bernadette sees more screen time.

The strange thing is that this show is still trying to find its own voice even four years in. If it had not have been on CBS or if it had not been a Chuck Lorre show I wonder if it would have been given such time.

There's still a bit of the 'Two and a Half Men' about this show at this stage, but the Howard story does level out the raunch with an attempt at genuine heart.

The Sheldon/Raj storyline is just silly, and offers nothing other than a rather broad selection of laughs. It's fine, but it's not the show at its best.

Overall, another fine but not great episode of a show that still seems to be finding itself.
