Pretty decent
isaacsundaralingam1 June 2024
There's nothing much to say about this movie except that it was fairly decent. There wasn't anything egregious about it, but there also wasn't anything that stood out. It's a pretty cute, pretty enjoyable light-hearted movie that doesn't offend in any big way. The only issue I had, which if not would have made the movie much better, was that you just couldn't really root for the main character. There's just so much to dislike, and while that's of course part of what the movie is really about, it also makes it difficult to want to see him succeed or change for the better. A little more redeeming qualities in the main character would have made the experience much more personal and empathetic. But it's still not too much of a deal breaker. The movie is good enough to help pass the time with some decent entertainment.

Moderately good
adibids2 June 2024
Yes, agreed, it's a one time watch. The modern take on the cult classic Abhimaan, but in this case it's cricket. Somehow the emotional connect could be established or rather lasted longer. Thodi zyada gyanwardhak hai rather than an entertaining watch. Performances are good, music is good, bgm is ok. The best part is the creative take on mahiway, which was hilarious. Rajkumar Rao's performance was a surprising notch down after the masterclass of Srikanth, whereas jhanvi's performance is getting better and better in each movie and her script choice is equally good.

Would have loved to see a cameo of the real mahi, but that perhaps would cost more than the entire budget of the movie, so let it be.

Rajkumar, Janhvi Tried well. A Good One. - Film Review of Mr & Mrs Mahi
mayanklouteriya1 June 2024
"Mr. And Mrs. Mahi" is an engaging film that captures the nuanced interplay between passion and partnership against the backdrop of cricket. Directed by Sharan Sharma, the movie stars Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor in lead roles, delivering compelling performances that bring depth to their characters.

The narrative revolves around two individuals from diverse backgrounds united by their love for cricket. Rao, portraying a seasoned cricketer, exudes a mix of determination and vulnerability, making his journey both relatable and inspiring. Kapoor, as an aspiring cricketer, complements Rao's intensity with a refreshing zeal and resilience. Their on-screen chemistry is palpable, providing the emotional core of the film.

Sharma's direction shines through in his attention to detail and ability to balance personal drama with the sport's high stakes. The cricket sequences are well-executed, capturing the thrill and pressure of the game. However, it's the off-field moments that truly resonate, exploring themes of ambition, sacrifice, and the complexities of relationships.

The screenplay, while occasionally predictable, maintains a good but sometimes slow pace and but tries to keeps the audience engaged. The film's soundtrack, though not particularly memorable, serves its purpose in enhancing the narrative's emotional beats.

Visually, the film benefits from crisp cinematography that captures both the vibrancy of cricket matches and the more intimate, reflective moments between characters. The supporting cast, including seasoned actors and fresh faces, adds layers to the story, although some characters could have been developed further.

Overall, "Mr. And Mrs. Mahi" is a heartwarming and motivational sports drama that offers a blend of inspiration and entertainment. For Some People it's Good Movie and Only some will say excellent movie. It stands out not just as a sports film, but as a poignant exploration of dreams, perseverance, and the strength found in partnership.

A captivating blend of love, cricket and dreams!
akashdubey-165131 June 2024
Mr. And Mrs. Mahi, is a cinematic gem that beautifully blends the essence of romance and sports.

Rajkummar Rao, as Mahendra Agrawal, gives an excellent performance, showing a man dealing with his own dreams and fears. Janhvi Kapoor, excels as Mahima Sharma, adding depth to her character. Their on-screen chemistry is great, making the story come alive.

The film captures the awkwardness of a newly married couple, the hard work of training, the excitement of matches, and the ups and downs in their relationship.

Sharan Sharma's direction balances romance and sports well, guiding the film through its emotional moments.

The film is just not about cricket; it's about following dreams and discovering where you belong.

A good new-age family dram

"Mr. & Mrs. Mahi" is a heartwarming tale that captures the essence of love and cricket. Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor deliver stellar performances as Mahendra and Mahima, a couple united by an arranged marriage and a shared passion for cricket. The film, directed by Sharan Sharma, beautifully portrays their journey from awkward acquaintances to a supportive duo, with Mahendra coaching Mahima to cricketing success. Despite its predictability, the movie scores with its emotional narrative and Rao's compelling portrayal of a man battling his insecurities and seeking validation. It's a charming story that resonates with anyone who has dared to dream and the complexities of nurturing a relationship alongside. A delightful watch that blends sportsmanship with the trials of partnership123. 🏏🎥

The biggest problem with cricket-based movies is that the protagonist doesn't look like a batsman at all.
dhruba-rgi3 June 2024
The biggest problem with cricket-based movies is that the protagonist doesn't look like a batsman at all. When I look back at all the cricket-based movies where the protagonist is a cricketer, especially a batsman, they don't convincingly portray a batsman. From their stance to their shots, they don't resemble an batsman at all. No matter how much you practice, you can't perfect your cricket style if you haven't been playing since childhood. It's time for aspiring actors to start practicing cricket, football, and other sports from a young age.

Additionally, the screenplay often doesn't feel natural. Especially in the second half, many elements seem forced to create drama. Rajkumar and the other actors performed beautifully, except for Janhvi. Her expressions were good, but her dialogue delivery was unconvincing. Overall, it's a decent one-time watch.

Kindly watch it if you love crap
pushpender-2688231 May 2024
The movie is tone deaf and regressive in many ways.

The direction was better but script was pathetic.

Impractical... The girl leaves her job as a resident ( doctor) just so she could follow her "dream".

Not one dialogue from this movie was to be remembered after stepping out of the theater.

Suddenly after a small pep talk you just start playing good cricket....?

Jhanvi's mother was not given anything to talk.

Rajkummar's character has a 'famous' brother who gives him crappy Advice to make reels/yt shots to make him famous or rather make his 'coaching' famous.

You just throw a ball at your wife because you need validation from your father and you are angry since she didn't mention you in her interview.

Throughout the movie Rajkumar Rao's character switch to different 'flags' first partial green then blood red shade of red flag and ofcourse in the end the husband that every women want... Yes a new type of ending ( much needed one) .

You are out of form because of your family drama and then again back to form as your husband came in apologizing and asks you to play however you want, as if you were always listening others suggesting you how to play..??

And yes in the end you just hug it out, all the crappy behaviour and selfishness of your husband , so what's bad no.

It's absolutely incredible for as movie lover I'm not such a fan of janhvi kapoor but after I watch bts and the movie is hats off to her.... As cricket fan she adjust as a proper cricket player most of the cricketer doesn't have such a lovely stance and balance...! Just wow she amazed me.... Now I'm a fan of janhvi kapoor from know! She deserves the appreciation... Love the way the character like rajkumaar rao he is phenomenal actor.... But janhvi stole the show I love janhvi!

Mr & Mrs Mahi Movie Review
"Mr. & Mrs. Mahi" tells how we often try to fulfill our unfulfilled dreams through our family members. Rajkumar Rao's character loves playing cricket, but for some reason, he never made it to the state team or the Indian team. He attempts to fulfill this dream through his wife, Janhvi, who is also passionate about cricket. On the other hand, she is being forced into medical studies, which she doesn't enjoy, and Rajkumar helps her realize her true calling. This narrative weaves through the struggles of life, family dynamics, and the frustration of unachieved goals.

The story is simple, but Rajkumar Rao's mature performance will win everyone's heart, and Janhvi's exceptional acting will be appreciated. Despite not being professional cricketers, their portrayal of playing cricket feels very authentic. Rajesh Sharma as the coach and Kumud Mishra as the father have performed excellently. This romantic sports drama is a must-watch with the entire family. You'll enjoy it, so make sure to catch it in theaters.

Slow love story that is weaved between cricket
simpleamanat-2154531 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I wasted my time first time I thought, i would sleep in theatre it self. Dharma production is mqking viewers to waste hard earned money. No proper story of love between the couple. No characters are build in portrayal. Very generic father-son, husband-wife , and mother- child relation. Still same old fashioned mind set of parents is potrayed like its early 2000-2010. The movie goes from some where to some where. Everything which I saw was like either this is not done or this cannot happen. While writing this post its making me think that words are appropriate for the description as they theatre was like why I am here. Only thing to watch is trailer before the movie. And yes Their is a new movie been announced at the start which again bring the social dilemma of caste and college activism will be portayed to divide society more ofcourse Dhadak 2.

Worst movie ever made
dreams-566595 June 2024
Jahnvi should stop acting. She is pathetic. I don't know why Karan Johar is working hard to make this plastic woman an actress.

Please save your money instead of wasting your precious time. Rajkumar Rao's acting is good but the script was written mainly for Jahnvi. The story is not new and uou have seen same drama before. Cricket shots are also nor interesting. Worst thing about this movie is Jahnvi Kapoor. She should stop acting. I couldn't connect with story at all and slept during the movie. Rajkumar should not waste his acting talent like this. Pls do not watch it. Its totally a disaster movie.

AVG Film
nitsvirusboyz7 June 2024
Mr. & Mrs. Mahi is a film that positions itself as a family-friendly offering with a story that aims to appeal to a wide range of audiences. A film with an interesting story on paper that fails to translate into a compelling cinematic experience. While the premise promises an engaging blend of sports and relationship drama, the execution leaves much to be desired, resulting in a movie that feels half-hearted and unsatisfying.

One of the film's few saving graces is its cast. Rajkummar Rao delivers a natural and convincing performance. Janhvi Kapoor, though not outstanding, puts in a commendable effort, with her dedication to her role and the sport of cricket evident on screen. Zarina Wahab also manages to shine in her limited screen time. Kumud Mishra and Rajesh Sharma were fine in their roles.

The story, though brimming with potential, suffers from a screenplay riddled with loose ends. The movie becomes predictable, juggling between cricket and jealousy without fully committing to either. However, the cricket sequences lack the necessary thrill and excitement, falling flat and failing to capture the intensity of the sport. Musically, the film falls short of delivering chart-topping hits, but the songs are well-integrated into the narrative.

Direction 2.5/5 Acting 3/5 Music 2.5/5 Story 3/5 Screenplay 2.5/5.
