Actually it was tolerable

Warning: Spoilers
I have 3 daughters (6-year-old twins and a 3-year-old) and Winx has been part of our daily life for years. They love the girls, the wings, the magic,... and there are far worse shows they could be fond of. But we, the adults, are cringing whenever the intro starts :)

The first movie was bought on DVD for Christmas and very much appreciated. Personally I feel the series have more charm because they are drawn instead of the graphics which I don't appreciate, but that's personal. The girls prefer the smoothness of the CGI, the even brighter sparkles, the flowing of the hair...

With the second movie in the cinema (not 3D) we went on an all-girls trip (the things we do for our children, the intelligence of my husband to skip this adventure ;). And this movie is just the same as the first. Smooth, slick, easy to digest, like the buckets of popcorn crunched down. It is filled with clichés and regular Winx action. The girls save the day, Stella is even more shallow than usual, the specialists make virtual cameo appearances to help out, the mothers mediate, the fathers do the right thing, a horse is transformed into a winged unicorn (much to the delight of all children in the theater), evil is conquered and we all live to see another day.

I managed to stay awake (as did our littlest, she didn't even want to sit on my lap!), found myself humming the transformation tune (with my eldest singing out loud), smiling at the jokes, aah-ing as Sky and Bloom kiss, just drifting on the cloud of ecstasy created by very enthusiastic girls (Mum, can we watch it again? PLEASE!?!?!? Of course, my angels, just not right away...).

It is harmless, shallow, black-white, good-evil, fairy-witches fun. Don't expect too much, don't try to read too much into it all and you will survive ;)

But we all wondered where Nabu came from. Wasn't he dead? Apparently he is back.

Confusing

Winx Club: Magical Adventure was confusing. Half of the time I didn't get what was happening at all. So many things were thrown in your face without enough detail. But I will say that this movie was gorgeous! The animation draws you in and makes up for all its flaws. Plus, the voices were fantastic again! Although, I would've loved to see more of the characters and the witches. Honestly, this will make any Winx fan happy!

Perfect world?
virindra11 April 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I went to see this movie with my three years old daughter. She likes princesses a lot, so I thought this movie would be a great movie for her.

The whole movie she asked: "Where are the witches?" and I just answered: "They are sitting next to a tree while the princesses are shopping." That really is the ridiculous tone that this movie had. If you are a girl and you are beautiful or thin, you can be a princess. Otherwise you will be the maid. This movie was filled with beautiful princesses and they all had beautiful princes. A sort of twisted perfect world someone created what is too far from reality. Do we want to show this to our kids? I think one time is enough.

The 3D-effects were horrible. My daughter put off her 3D glasses because when there was movement, it all became very blur. Story was not interesting. There was a fighting scene (yes I kept watching this movie and I kept myself from falling asleep) on a boat and I thought: "This really could be something." But no, it was not worked out very well. They were training, and sudden there were holograms or something. (Hollograms can't really hit you). And the princesses and princes start to fight each other and then suddenly they all disappear.

I would not recommend this movie. My wife and I doubted to go to this movie or The Lorax. Well, we were sorry we didn't go to The Lorax.

My Favourite of the Winx films!
mccreadielyn3 May 2016
I really love this film! The plot, the CGI and even the villains! While I do love the first film, I prefer this one due to the plot and the fact that they use Believix (my favourite transformation).

I would mostly recommend this film to fans of Winx who have a general idea of the story and characters. One of my favourite things is the development to some of the characters in the film- it's nice to see more depth to some of the characters. I also think the Trix are very interesting in this film and this is one of their best appearances (not quite season 1 season though).

Overall, I will recommend this film to any Winx fan!
