Sometimes I think that I continue to watch iCarly because I've become familiarized with the characters, but now I think I'm just watching out of spite to confirm its decline, as my opinions of the show continue to spiral downward. This episode was no exception to this, as it consisted of nothing more than Carly, Sam & Freddie screaming at each other in a fake space pod half the time, purposefully hitting unwanted controls to further irritate each other, and a random little girl taking up residence in Spencer's apartment in the other half. The effort was just not present in this particular episode, and since it HAD to start right away with the worst part, the iCarly web cast, just like almost every season 3 episode, a predictable structure has been formed to further showcase the already apparent lack of effort. At least they get the worst out of the way, but I'm so close to shutting it off completely.

No Effort

I usually like iCarly episodes. It is a great kids show that has an always expected silly plot and is still entertaining nonetheless.

I had high expectations for iSpace Out but the show fell flat and was entirely unfunny to me. The plot was there but the execution was not. The script consisted of a lot of screaming in the latter half of the episode. Also, Spencer's b-line story was meant to be aloof and strange but just seemed like an excuse for lazy writing. I laughed a tiny laugh twice during the whole half hour. One of the weakest iCarly's I have ever seen. If you want to get into this show, do not make this your first episode.

When iCarly was great, it was great. When iCarly was bad...it was really bad. Guess where this episode falls?

ISpace Out has all the hallmarks of a bad Nick sitcom, from bratty kids to poor acting on the adults' part to situations that are just there because WACKY IS GOOD! There is a reason I still enjoy some iCarly episodes today, and that is because of execution done well. This is just insanity and watching the main characters yell at each other and have a breakdown for no reason. I get that you have to suspend disbelief in stuff like this (like this would ever happen in real life), but this was impossible. Maybe very little kids would laugh at this episode, but I found no humor here.

Interest lays in the B-plot, where a little girl breaks into the apartment...from upstairs...and runs around doing nothing. I have to admit at being a little nosy, obnoxious as it was. Alas, this also falls flat, as the girl's presence or identity is never explained. So what's the point of having it then?

I do have to laugh at the show once again being ahead of its time, with the billionaire's space tourism company. Maybe with the advent of both space tourism and the iCarly reunion, they really can host an episode from space. Now that would be an episode worth seeing.
