Still funny, still f... aaand now it's sad!

A thoroughly enjoyable episode with lots of laugh-out-loud moments. I love Barney's innkeeper jokes ("don't charge for Wifi, it seems greedy!"), and Marshall's songs and photo montages are hilarious.

But in between the laughs, it becomes more and more apparent early in this fifth season of How I Met Your Mother that they tread a dangerous path with their characters. Especially Marshall and Lily seem to get gradually dumbed down as their traits and quirks get more exaggerated. Ted is affected as well, he's now the tweed wearing professor who doesn't get laid (well, at first *cough* spoilers! *cough*).

Barney and Robin carry the story at the moment, everything else seems to be resolved and sorted out after the end of season 4. In a series that has always been driven by the story just as much as by the jokes. As long as the creators pull off episodes that are as funny as this one, it could be carried by the jokes alone for some time, but if the prize for the laughs is the dignity of the characters as they get dumber and dumber, the series will inevitably hit a tipping point.

The story of the double dating didn't make much sense. Like why didn't they have another couple to double date, why did they never try it when Ted had girlfriends And I remember there was an episode where they wanted to get rid off another couple for being as crazy as they were now Also why would they act like this with people they know so well?.

But even with this, the episode gets a lot of extra points that makes it a good episode. Marshall's montages were hilarious. Even a cat's death didn't prevent me from laughing. And the poems Ted and Barney made were also both pretty good and funny.

I just wonder if the final moment means that Barney is now rethinking being with Robin.

Wedding ring

I found it strange that Marshall was wearing his wedding ring on his right hand in the scenes in the bar.

It's a comedy show! And this has it in spades.

I'd give this episode 10 for Marshall's photo montages alone! That aside, it's a very funny episode, one of those that doesn't affect the flow of the story but makes you laugh... A lot.

The whole show is littered with these inconsequential episodes, some aren't great, some are fantastic.

If the focus was always on the character's development it would be a wishy washy drama... Enjoy these episodes for what they are... A lot of fun.

Ted enjoy his single life while Barney involving the relationship

I just find even in these "independent" episodes, which no big thing happened to break down the plot. Ted's innkeeper life change from sexless to sexual. In the mean time, the couple life of R&B makes them from cool guys to the boring people like L&M (in their sight). This contrast as the following episodes, 5th - M&L too close that become one people, 6th - about fight, and finally 8th, the first time of relationship of R&B had stopped by others. Surely we can always enjoys in this story and their narration.

I really didn't enjoy this episode. I have recently been watching the entire Box Set from Season 1 through to where the show is in Season 7, and my hatred for Lily's character has slowly been building. I'm usually very perturbed by the control freak dynamic in any TV show anyway, so this may not apply to everybody, but I found Lily to be very annoying in this episode especially.

Barney and Robin are an absolute train wreck of a couple; they both hate relationships, loathe commitment, have serious childhood abandonment issues and will look for any and every reason to avoid commitment.

So after waiting 9/10 months for Robin and Barney to finally stop looking for reasons not to admit their feelings to each other, Lily is euphoric when the two finally do concede that they love each other. And how does she celebrate this?, she invites them to an incredibly awkward, incredibly forward night that displays EVERYTHING that Barney and Robin hate about relationships and gives the couple a massive reason NOT to be together. Lily and Marshall then react, whence realising Robin and The Barnicle didn't enjoy the evening, as if they are the couple that has been mistreated. Lily then dumps Robin and Barney without so much as a phone call and plays right into the pair's issues of abandonment.

I appreciate it's just a TV show and the writers will never be able to fill in all the grey areas and plot holes that do emerge if you look closely enough, but it really is frustrating to watch a character that is so adamant that they are always right, they become so oblivious to the things they do wrong.

Although this is a good show, I sometimes find myself waiting for something to laugh at. I laughed at this, even if it was cheesy at times. Ted's poem was the perfect comeback to Barney.
