For me so far the strongest episode since 6th season
klusik9 April 2013
I've read two previous reviews here and although I must agree with some points, I cannot agree as a whole in content.

First; this series is developing. Do you remember, how were these characters sloppy and shallow in the very first season?

Gaby was just money-spending bitch, Carlos was strange Hispanic guy, Bree was extra-orthodox cleaner lady and so on. Then characters started to developing, shifts its even basics characteristics... E.g. in few last episodes I really hate Gaby and a little less Carlos. And I know I will love them both in next episode (I hope, I have not seen it yet ;))

But this episode really has slower and a little less great beginning, I must admit it, but then, when that "what ifs" started to emerge, it is better and better.

Gabys' story is... just... like Gaby is. Susans story is humorous -- as Susan is. And then its Lynnetes story... And that is the best for me, very strong, very... deep. Scene "with sandwich" (don't worry, no porn here :-D) is just gorgeous, even it is just I don't know, 40 seconds long, it is... indescribably gorgeous and hard. And thats the moments, Why I love Lynnete, even shes something little strange bitch.

So no, do not stop doing episodes like that (I know, DH is over now, but maybe to other series I am watching...), do it and do it more.

epitomizes everything that has went wrong with DH

Warning: Spoilers
First of all let me say that I have been watching this show from season one - episode one. I love what the show used to be, and hate that I am still watching in hopes it will find it's way back to that.

This last episode ("If") epitomizes everything that has gone wrong with the show. In the previous episode a plane crashed on an outdoor Christmas party. In this episode the characters go thru "what if" scenarios as they deal with the aftermath and wait to find out if Karl , Orson, and Mona (who are all in surgery) will make it.

As the "what if" scenarios have already been touched on by the previous reviewer, I'll skip the unnecessary synopsis of each & instead move on to all the ways this episode went wrong.

Each season has given us a "mystery" , usually in the form of a new resident / neighbor who's moved onto Wyteria lane. Thsi season gave us the Deluca's; an Italian family with a secret past who are hiding their true identity. (which has been the premise for many seasons) However, between this episode and the one prior we learn quite a bit about them and their secret. So much in fact that I really don't care to know anymore. It's just not interesting enough to drag me along with it. The mystery being solved to this point leaves me with no cliff hanger , no clues to gather, no reason to care what happens next.

Each season someone dies... this time (due to the above mentioned plane crash) Karl doesn't survive. To this point in the season he was playing a pretty big role in the show; as Bree's love interest. His male horn dog to Bree's prim and proper persona made for some comic relief in the show. It also gave us a chance to see Bree behaving badly (which in my opinion is when she is most entertaining), and a softer more likable side of Karl. (as he seemed to genuinely be in love with Bree) By killing this character off , not ony do we lose all the factors I just mentioned... but the send off (in the form of what if scenarios) turned Karl into a complete *A*hole.

This show has jumped the shark. Every time I am hopeful they will find their way back to what made it so entertaining and addictive int he first 2 / 3 seasons... they drop the ball.

If i keep watching it will be grudgingly for all the time i have invested in this series, and not b/c i feel compelled to find out "what happens next". I don't care anymore.

What if...

Warning: Spoilers
Desperate Housewives had a great fall in the fourth season in quality. The first had been so good, and the second was not bad. Third was okay, but the fourth terrible. In the fifth it got better, much better. This is basically of summary of the seasons.

The sixth season has been terrible so far. It is missing the quality, the mystery, the scandal, and the effect that it always had on people. It has continued to go on dropping, episode by episode but this one in particular was...

TERRIBLE

Believe me, I am a fan of the show, but it was just so bad, this one in particular.

What if... my former husband hadn't died fighting with his mistress's husband in a plastic house during a Christmas festival when a plane hit him. This actually happened.

Susan imagines if she hadn't divorced Carl and had gotten fat, and tried to cheat on him with Mike because of all the affairs he has had, but he refuses. Bree imagines if he hadn't died and she had married him, and he had multiple affairs. Then Orson dies alone and lonely. Gaby wonders how she would have forced Celia to become an actress although it's against the girl's will. At 25, Celia then finally explains she doesn't want to be an actress to her old mother (Eva Longoria with a crazy white wig). Lynette imagines if her unborn son is handicapped and she forces him to do things on his own (and he ends up a masterpiece). The new Italians, whose names are hard to remember, imagine if the lady who's blackmailing them hadn't died after being hit by the plane, and told the cops about that secret (which is still a "mystery"), and she would have gone to jail.

OHH THE HUMANITY+

and I'm serious, it's just too bad. I miss the classic that it used to be.
