the tattoo artists are beyond talented but sometimes their designs are always the same
jela_tini29 July 2021
It's either a rose, a butterfly, or anything that should have a "meaning" behind it. There are thousands of plant species and butterfly species out their so idk why they always choose the most common designs for coverup!

inoffensive
djurrepower1 August 2021
Its quick and lighthearted enough that there isn't really that much to say about it. It doesn't go too much into detail about the tatoo's and the artists. And the persons and personalities are also kept on a down low. So it's just a quick cover up, a few jokes here and there, and done.

6/10: quick and simple.

Cringy

Warning: Spoilers
The tattoo artists work is amazing on all 3 people. My issue lies with how the Wiccan tattoo was treated. Yes it was getting covered up and he got it for the wrong reason, but you don't see or hear anyone speaking of a Christian cross in the way the Wiccan pentacle was spoken of and treated, by the host.

LOW SCORES - WHO CARES
curley-079314 August 2021
Yes I gave it a six. But let's be honest, this is not a classic. Does that mean it's not entertaining? Of course not. It's entertaining, easy to watch and binge worthy. Well worth a watch if tattoos are your thing.

Enjoy!

the cast saved it

Warning: Spoilers
I binge watched the whole thing over night. I've never liked a cast of a reality show more than this one. Everyone was charming, funny, and charismatic! Especially the host, her personality was so refreshing and she looked so energized and that didn't feel forced.

Besides, i loved the tattoo artists that i immediately went to google them. They felt like celebrities and they seemed very interesting.

Although, i feel like the fact that the clients or guests all liked their tattoo is kinda?.. i don't know. If it was fake then it was a bit lame.

Plus the tattoos were good. They were well executed but they weren't a "WOW" for me.

In general i think the show was only fun and enjoyable because of the cast and the cast.

Do you like it...? *fake suspense* ... I love it!

A lot going on this show seems staged, filled with loads of cringe moments/dialogues.

Fun

Standard reality TV. Has a fun vibe and the host, artists and guests are all cool.

I basically hate-watched this show
lasher-michael-p30 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Aside from the highly annoying production style, 18 surprise tattoos and no one was upset. They probably had some discussion off camera about it. Don't get me wrong, a lot of talent on this show, but by the end I was cheering for the clients to not like the tattoo.

Needs a new host
hollie-benoit29 July 2021
I'd like the show a lot more if they got a new host. The current one is pretty obnoxious. She's not natural and seems to be trying to hard, which is painful and awkward to watch. Watching tattoos and tattoo coverups are always cool though.

It's not Citizen Kane, people.
whoman21 August 2021
I love this show! The host is funny and gorgeous, the artists are beyond talented, and the guests are genuine people. You can tell the situations are real and it's not the average "reality" show. It's a great "watching a little something while you eat dinner" show. Some of the reviewers on here act like there has to be a stirring, dramatic plot or that there HAS to be a script for a reality show, which is why I hate those shows in the first place. This show is a lot of fun. There's no commercials, no replaying the same scene 8 times before you finally see the reveal, and no bleeps when someone tells us how they really feel. I only wish there were more episodes.

Questionable Ethics
thomasgreuel29 July 2021
So the idea of the show is that people regret having gotten tattoos that were often influenced by others, and now they get a coverup that somebody else decides. Seems not like the smartest decision. And more often than not the person making the decision doesn't know the other person very well. So you can tell that they often don't like the results of their coverups. But for the sake of the show they have to pretend they do.

You don't get to learn much about tattooing and the shown tattoos are fairly generic.

Tattoo coverup
Baris-Mk28 July 2021
This tv show in a nutshell: Do you have any ideas for a cover up?

Ohh I know! How about a rose!

Tattoo reveal time: Ohh I love it!

Don't watch, complete waste of time, they paid the people on the show so much money just to say: OMG I LOVE IT!

Quit after episode 3 for the derogatory sensationalism
macabremagick10 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The tattoos are beautiful, but having to watch a whole episode where all they did was talk badly and shame an alternative religious lifestyle, made me not want to watch it anymore as I cringed everytime.

It was just a simple pentacle tattoo, which is a protective symbol embodying all the elements and spirit. They called it 'cursed', of course had to make comments about Satanism. Any and everytime they cut to the guy more and more derogatory comments were made. And then the ultimate kicker right at the end was the host going. "Lets find you a new girlfriend thats not a 'witch b*tch'. Excuse you! Really disappointed and disgusted to see people who represent alternative lifestyle shaming people with alternative belief systems. Witches are not the sensationalized butt of your jokes.

The element they added to make this more "entertaining" makes it impossible to watch
wajumau30 July 2021
For some reason creating unnecessary drama in reality shows is popular. I'll never understand why.

This show would be so much more interesting and watchable if the recipient got to collaborate, at least to a fair extent, on their tattoo. The fact that they are, once again, being influenced by the circumstances and their loved one has control of their skin's fate... is regressive, and in some cases cruel.

This show has the power to destroy trust and more in these relationships, and effect the self-esteem of the recipient. Especially because most of the tattoos in the first episode are dark and large.

This, for me, is not entertainment. Much of the time it's just mean.

Surprisingly Good (if you like this kind of thing)
cassielea31 July 2021
Most tattoo shows (and make-up effects shows) are the same with little to no real variance episode after episode. I expected the same when I decided to turn this on. While the formula is redundant (not a complaint), the episodes actually aren't. The tattoo artists each have individual styles that show through on their cover ups. The people there to receive tattoos (& whomever they are with) come across genuine and not like actors (like one person commented on in another review). The host is actually a comedian and good at helping everyone relax and enjoy the ride.

Viewers should remember a few things though.

1. The show is edited to create suspense. Not scripted, EDITED. It isn't that kind of reality show.

2. The process of getting a heavily saturated tattoo (most cover ups have to be) is long. Very long. Hours long. It isn't five minutes. These people spend ALL DAY in the warehouse shop to get them.

3. It isn't some random person picking tattoos. The artist consults with the person who accompanied the one getting the work. It ranges from friend to relative to partner but it is always someone close who actually knows the person. They edit out most of the consult which can last easily a couple of hours as this isn't a process that is taken lightly.

If you enjoy looking at tattoos good and bad, it is worth giving it a try. If you are expecting something crazy, try How Far is Tattoo Far. If you want just tattoos and not the people, the competition Ink Master might be better suited.

It's ok, host is ignorant
lucias_blue_star29 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It's alright, nothing too new or exciting. It seems a bit set up or fake?...bit sure, but sometimes the people seem more happy about the tattoo than they should be...like they are disappointed but don't want to say.

Also, was very turned off by the ignorant host. Episode 3 features someone who had a pentacle on their arm tattooed on for their girlfriend who was wiccan. The host went on to say how it was cursed, he was cursed and when the pentacle is pointed down it means they worship the devil....well it was pointed up...like a wiccan protection symbol SHOULD be, there was no need to say that. The whole time the host was going on about how this guy made a stupid dangerous decision and he should "man up"(or something similar) and stay away from witches. Super ignorant. As a wiccan myself it was highly offensive and ignorant...those comments are what hurts our faith and make people think we are evil. Very disappointed with the show.

Stopped after episode 2
gallagherkellie1 August 2021
The artists are giving the people tattoos that they don't even like (but are pretending to like). I stopped after a tattoo in episode 2 didn't even cover the original tattoo -you could still see almost the whole thing!

Ok way to burn some time
HookedHangman3 August 2021
The show itself is a decent way to burn some time. The premise is interesting. Still haven't made up my mind about this one.

But there is 1 thing thing drives me up the wall. The dreadlocked guy in the intro who calls it a tattoo gun. It's a machine, not a gun.

Absolutely nothing new, but the tats.
ru48629 July 2021
Every vignette is tried and familiar. Possibly generated by an AI. Strangely this lets the tat's shine. The tats are the best part and I liked them. Somehow COVID-19 wiped the slate clean of tattoo shows that don't pull hair. So atm, this is it. 6 eps at 1080 non hdr. I can't imagine using anything more than counterfeit money for access to this show. The tats were good so we will yearn for more. Till the next new format that is. 'Redo', no kidding.

Fun show especially for tattoo lovers
guscarolvi2 August 2021
I thoroughly enjoyed bingeing this show. It was really satisfying to see ugly tattoos transformed into great tattoos. A lot of the reviews on here are kinda missing the point or somewhat inaccurate. The tattoos weren't that redundant or "generic". What people may perceive as "generic" are actually traditional styles of tattoos (ie Japanese) which people in the tattoo community value. The artists are all amazing and these tattoos often represent large sums of money worth of work (ie large pieces with a lot of ink taking several hours & high end artists can charge up to $300/hr) which probably a lot of the guests could not afford without this show. So in that sense it was really providing an opportunity to get something that greatly improved people's self confidence and quality of life. The reactions, relationships, and stories were genuine and really sweet. If you like looking at nice tattoos, this is a light and pleasureable watch.

Cool idea, bad execution
thebate611 August 2021
All clients were happy with their new tattoos that didnt even get to pick. Impossible. They surely agree on the theme at least of their new tattoo before and off camera. So you realize its all fake from episode one. The host is sooo overacting. Like trying a bit too hard. Artists are all very talented.

Great tattoo artists. This just has been done before so many times. Tattoos are pretty generic and they don't feel very well thought out. It's pretty woke also.

Awful concept, in so many ways
forkbomber4 August 2021
Firstly, a tattoo is personal, even if you regret is, it's not up to others to chose how to fix it.

The intro going "what if the person you love has a tattoo you hate?" Seriously? This entire concept is messed up. I can give a star for the talent of the artists, but the show is wrong in every possible way, avoid.

Too MTV reality
kurtboob-0063928 September 2022
My boyfriend and I watched the first episode together and both agreed that It was just way too MTV reality show for us. I didn't like the commentary the host did throughout the show. I thought it was annoying and unnecessary. I also thought some of the props were so unnecessary; two of the people had coverups for their backs. The only way that they could see it is if they turned their neck 180. I do think it's a cool concept, but the exaction wasn't the best.

I did like a couple things about the show as well. The artist were pretty good in the episode I watched. The tattoos looked so good and well made.

I definitely think it could just be see the tattoo before the coverup, see the tattoo process, then see the coverup.

A good tattoo show
beccaccrum12 August 2021
No one is malicious, it's nice and fun. There's so many tattoo shows out there (specifically ones like this that don't take place in a shop) that tend to be more malicious and mean but this one isn't which I like.
