Something form the nature itself
road_x411 June 2010
I first got to know about this TV-series last summer, when I saw a commercial on Animal Planet. It was about a guy who decided to go and live into the wild along and amongst lions. "Damn, that has got to be a cool show", I said to myself. Yet when I saw what was this show really about, it left me dreaming about African Safari. And something at least a bit close to that kind of experience.

The show is not only a regular lion round-about, it brings a much more important message - the connection of human and the wildest you can imagine nature. Nature lovers or not, everyone should see this show just to realize how related to it we all are.

The filming group is wonderful, and the main guy (I can't find words to describe him) Dave Salmoni is just amazing to watch.

Easily 10/10, and after the end you just want it to continue.

The next Timothy Treadwell?
sue-nelson51219 October 2011
Dave Salmoni bears a more-than-passing resemblance to Timothy Treadwell of 'Grizzly Man' infamy. Salmoni's approach to his subjects is particularly similar: baby-talking to the lions, getting closer than is safe, pseudo-scientific approach to the supposed study he was conducting.

The alleged purpose of his excursion to Africa was to acclimate a dangerous pride of lions to the presence of humans, so the lions could be safely observed by tourists thereby raising revenue for the preserve. I can't see how this so-called captive cat expert can justify yelling "Cut it out!" at every threat by the cats is supposed to positively impress these wild animals.

The only positive in the show was his attempting to play with the cubs but he only demonstrates that even wild youngsters love to play and can be tempted with a ball and string.

No actual naturalist with valid credentials would stoop so low! Avoid!

Not a good documentary

Warning: Spoilers
I found this on a popular pay service.

This is not a normal documentary. It is a chronicle of 6 episodes of a "supposed" big cat expert which take place over a six month period of time. He "claims" to be trying to "socialize" these large cats in this case a pride of lions into a game reserve. His actions only come across as stupid and or fool hardy. He spends too much time on his 4x4 ATV. He comes across as if he doesn't know what he's doing. He thinks he is imparting information that to him seems factual but only is based on his feeble conjectures and minor observances. He speaks in a baby like voice to these lions, which is out of place he also is condescending to the viewer it is almost offensive. He also seems to think he was the one that was able to "train" these lions to accept humans. Many times in the six episodes the lions almost attack him even through the last episode. To prove the point they have a group of supposed tourists get close to the Lions. Nothing is given at the end if these lions are still even around this series was released in 2009.

It is very boring and not worth your time, I am glad i did not cost me per viewing.
