Amateur night porn, mean-spirited to boot

For all its (fake) industry awards and longevity (180-plus volumes released thus far), this Girlfriends series is painfully slapdash and anti-entertaining in #146, an embarrassment.

First half has an ambiguous setting -seems to be at the label's fictional Lamoyne Hotel given a familiar corridor and tiny bedroom, but supposedly at a home instead, as lovers Giselle Palmer and Jessica Rex are interrupted by Palmer's sister Lena Paul & friend Romi Rain, two real meanies. Just minutes into the feature Lena forgets her line and we hear the (male) director off-camera prompt her with it, causing Lena to say "Yeah" and dutifully recite the dialog, all preserved awkwardly in the final print.

Lena shames her sister, and the awkward scene has her taking Jessica away, leaving busty Romi to dominate Giselle and force sex on her. The usually persuasive actress Palmer plays the entire segment with deer-in-the-headlights look. Then Paul and Jessica look through a cheap-plug Girlfriends lesbian photo book to warm up for their sex scene, played by Rex completely out of character.

Second half of the show is even worse, as it deals gingerly with implied incest (or at the very least incestuous impulses) by mother-daughter team of Cory Chase and big-butt Maddy O'Reilly. Nasty women Dana DeArmond and young Scarlett Sage (unflatteringly styled here as a brunette) confront the couple with suggestive photo they took together and force them to have sex: Cory with Scarlett and Maddy with sarcastic Dana. It's all because Dana is seeking revenge on Maddy for having sex with Dana's girlfriend "Romi", a confusing namedrop considering we've just watched a real Romi Rain who is evidently not the same character. Scarlett as domme and Cory as sub is utterly unconvincing, and Dana's hammy rotteness is strictly aimed at her most rabid fans.

Net result is unpleasant rather than erotic.
