Wow, just wow..

Just when you thought Castlevania can't top itself, it proves you wrong. This episode is epitome of how the western animation industry is evolving and Castlevania is the frontrunner in that. It has showed us that video game adaptions can be good, and also is one of the best Netflix original to date.

Its sad to see such consistently amazing series is ending, but its better its ending on the peak than overstaying its welcome. It has been an amazing journey with memorable conclusion.

Best episode of the series

The gang's back together again! This episode was jam jacked with awesome action from our favorite Belmont-vampire-speaker triad, and I loved it. This is Castlevania at it's peak. This season had a slow start but these last few episodes were incredible. Also, the animation???

This episode's was so smooth! To the producers and animators of this show, I wish I could give you a giant hug. Great work.

An extraordinary spectacle

Season 4 episode 9 marks the climax of Castlevania. A fantastic series filled with likable characters, impressive voice performances and absolutely exceptional animation.

Everything had been thoroughly set up beforehand, so that this episode could be almost entirely action focused and it is truly special as a result. The tempo is extremely high-octane, the choreography is constantly engaging and it is truly a visual marvel.

There is little reason to go into specific moments here. The few character moments in this episode hit incredibly hard and the conflict solutions are satisfying.

If the final seasons of Game of thrones could excite and engage to a fraction of the degree that the final three episodes of Castlevania does, it would have left almost everyone satisfied.

In the end. The culmination of Castlevania is a remarkable achievement in visual storytelling and everyone on staff, from director to writer, from artist to producer, they should all be commended for their spectacular work here.

Castlevania has its ups and downs. I would be lying if I called the series perfect - however: The ending is about as near to perfect as I could ever imagine.

Bravo for this ending. An unconditional 10/10!

Action-Packed Emotional Spectacle
bbevis-4795415 May 2021
My heart almost exploded during some of the fights in this episode. Watching the trio of beloved characters reunite to slay some night creatures was immensely satisfying. The moment Trevor says hello to Alucard I was so relieved and filled with joy. Not many series can evoke such a feeling and it shows how I have grown to love these characters over the seasons.

Not only does the bloody-brutal action consistently ramp up in intensity throughout the episode, so does the animation. Huge shoutout to Powerhouse animation for the work that was put into this episode. The animation is slick and frequently stunning with each character showcasing ultra instinct like frame by frame moments that will put a smile on any fans face.

By the time the ending credits came to be I had to take a moment to soak everything in. I literally can't give this episode enough praise. Between the animation, character moments, graphic fight sequences and revelations "The Endings" is sure to go down as the best penultimate episode of the series. In my opinion one of the best penultimate episode of any series ever. Animated or not. Bravo to all involved.

This episode is perfection. The action and animation in this episode is unbelievably entertaining and so much fun to watch. Almost non-stop action with some meaningful respite in between.

Amazing

This episode was the best in the series in my opinion. This is how you end a show and give the fans what they want. Of course like any other castlevania fan I want more seasons, however the quality of the final season has left me content. What an epic conclusion to the show!

One of the greatest action sequences in animation history
trcky129 May 2021
The drama, stakes, and character interactions are written superbly through the battle scenes. The animation and camera perspectives are exceptional through every minute of action. What resulted were intense group battle scenes that flowed together effortlessly, leading to individual and team battle scenes that were fantastically choreographed and heart poundingly intense. Chains, swords, and magic painted together a masterpiece of an animated action kaleidoscope.

Short term, this episode surpasses Demon Slayer S1E19 as the best animated action episode I've seen in the past 5 years.

Long term this episode will be looked back on as having some of the greatest animated action in history.

Visually interesting, boring otherwise

Warning: Spoilers
I was astounded to come here and see this is one of the best-rated episodes. I think this is my least favorite episode in the series.

The fight scenes are visually spectacular, but meaningless. Every named character is a magical superhero now, to the point where they could teleport across the battle and slice through 100 enemies at once and it wouldn't feel out of place. How is it fun to watch a fight with such power creep that everyone is a god?

And this episode is 90% fights. I enjoyed them earlier in the series but there were just way too many here. They finish defending the castle, which is a long fight scene, run upstairs and immediately they're in a 5 minute fight with nameless hench vampires. They kill them and move on. Whole scene could've been deleted, beautiful animation not withstanding.

Immediately after, they witness Dracula's resurrection, and then kill the resurrected Dracula rebis in one hit. This is DRACULA, the epicenter of seasons 1-2, and his resurrection has been the biggest plot line since. And it's over in seconds. Why not replace one of the meaningless fights with fighting this perfect alchemical being that we were expecting to be powerful?

Some exposition would've been nice too. We do get some answers about Dracula next episode, but something here would've made the fight extra meaningful. An emotional exchange between Dracula and Alucard, or a philosophical one between Dracula and Death perhaps? A waste of a moment.

This how a game based TV show must been done

Warning: Spoilers
What can I say? All in this episode was absolutely wonderful, marvillous, amazing, astonishing, from the point of view of a fan of the game series and also, a fan of well made TV shows. And this was that. It has all that. Perfect animation, convincing plot, great fighting scenes and the extasis itself: the fight against the Death itself, that was portrayed as many of the greatest final enemies of Castlevania games. It was a moment of pure extasis. And I'm sure that was wonderful not only to the people who know about the video game, but for all who can recognize a very well made animated TV show. Congratulations to Netflix and the team that made this possible. It was a great adventure!

Every minute of the episode left you entertained and on the edge of your seat. The fight sequences were simply masterful. I can't recall the last time I enjoyed an episode of anything this much. There are some incredibly talented folks behind this series. Well done.

Unreal Animation
niharkadam2 July 2021
The story is good, the characters are good, this is a satisfying conclusion to the story but the thing that blows me away is the constant 30 minutes of stellar animation. The final battle is on par with the best works of the famous japanese animation Ufotable. Congratulations to everyone who worked on this. What an experience. After completing this episode, I lowkey feel like Castlevania is underrated.

I was in absolute awe.
zoniax21 April 2023
When I first watched this episode... I couldn't believe what I was seeing on screen. The complexity of the fighting in this episode somehow tops everything we've seen in Castlevania up to this point.

I won't spoil anything, but the second to last fight between some of the major characters... my jaw was literally dropped. If you had walked in the room and seen my face, you'd think I'd just seen a ghost. I've never seen animation look so fluid, or beautiful.

And the final fight... my GOD. It was as if all the bad video game adaptations of the past had been sacrificing themselves for years, devoid of absolutely anything of quality, being intentionally bad, just so Castlevania could take all that potential and use it all up in under 30 minutes.

Nothing I've ever seen in animation has even come close to the complexity, fluidity, brutality, and beauty that Castlevania as a whole (and this episode in particular) has brought to the screen. This is a masterpiece of animation. Period.

Hear me out

Warning: Spoilers
I disagree that THIS is the shows best episode.

Dark(?) Harvest and You don't deserve my blood are the two best episodes for me (I haven't seen the final episode, just finished this one).

Why?

Well...

I like this show for the characters. I like the philosophical aspects. One of the highlights for me are the conversation between Flyface or Flyeyes and Isaac about who and what decides why we go to hell...and the conversation of the head of church in the German city who argues that if god is perfect and created everything, Hell and Satan must be as well.

This episode had none of that! Basically, like one other reviewer pointed out, it's just fights! And frankly, not even such good fights.

It starts with them killing that Terrorhippopotamus thing (although Alucard had actually killed it in the previous episode!) and then it just seems like some video game. They fight and fight and fight and the enemies are almost waiting in different levels of difficulty.

Before they reach Saint Germaine and Death (who really was surprised at this point that he actually is death? The episode said Varny or whatever is name is shows his real face and we hadn't seen Death since episode 1 of season 4, so it MUST have been him), the mini bosses actually could have easily killed Trevor and his team. I mean, they did have the upper hand when it was 4 against 3. And they were actually 5, with the head vampire guy conveniently waiting until they had killed his "friends" to lose to them.

I am sorry, but this is lazy writing and this show deserves better.

Don't get me wrong, it's still a good episode. But it felt all a bit too rushed and forced. They could have built up death. They could have elaborated on Dracula and that Rebus thing.

What made the arc of Isaac great was that they slowly built it. Same goes for Carmila. That's why their final face off was meaningful.

Death on the other hand? He was barely known as such before he was already disposed of.

And that Trevor sacrificed himself? They could have made that more meaningful as well.

I mean, Death himself said he can't raise armies or do much. Was he actually still a threat at this point? Or such a threat that Belmont has to sacrifice himself for it? His girlfriend didn't seem too sad in the moment, nor did Alucard.

The two other episodes I mentioned were great because of the build up. That was all missing here for me. I won't be blinded by some sub par fight scenes (by Castlevania standards) with some glaring logical errors (killed monster is still alive, demon tag team doesn't take advantage to actually kill the heroes because the plot demands it).

And how the heck did Sypha ever end up as a statue with the cyclops? At this point, she is basically Neo from the Matrix, flying around shooting bullets! It's a bit ridiculous, sorry to say.

I won't rate this episode and of course people are free to love it. But please think about it and compare it to other episodes.

Season 4 to me was the season of the side characters. I cared much more about their story than the "main plot". Season 3 was much better that way with it's ominous and threatening atmosphere and constant feeling of actual danger.

Season 4 really lacked in that segment, at least when it came to the main characters. Not once did I think or feel that any of them are in real danger. Nor did I perceive the villains and their plot as any kind of actual threat. This episode perfectly underlined that and that's why I am surprised that people consider it the best. But, to each their own.
