Very Low Level Show
leader-726 April 2012
The program is geared toward people with absolutely no attention span and offers little useful information. Mostly sensational in its format, the presentations are geared toward selling a nutrient, micro nutrient, or "procedure" being marketed by the guests. Medically and scientifically, the show has huge gaps.

The games he used to have at the end, "Jeopardy-like" were abandoned this season -- and good riddance. They made a mockery of both the contestants and the issues being addressed -- the games were supposed to be substantive, to teach the viewer something. They always fell short.

A final observation: there is rarely any follow up with the guests who've had to lose considerable weight, or whom he's challenged to make major changes in lifestyle. Why? Doesn't he/producers believe in what they're doing? Let's see these successes (or not) and work harder to help them, rather than just making 'examples' out of them on TV.

Annoying!
Jazzie-too5 April 2018
Reminds me of the Wild West "snake doctor". Always speaks so fast, words tumbling out of his mouth. I like high energy but this just feels weird. And the few times I've tuned in, he's always selling some "miracle" product. Just a sly fox. Once in a while you hear something that at least alerts your attention.

Unethical

A doctor that cared about the Hippocratic oath would not shill for "miracle" cures.

Fake Health News & Real Health News Melded Into Mush
DKosty12315 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This show can encourage good health habits. The trouble is you have to sort out the bad advice from the good stuff and that is not easy to do. There are also the sensational guests who show up during sweeps who are there to boost ratings and offer nothing that is factual.

Oprah Winfreys Harpo Productions has made her a Billionaire with this type of show. It is condescending beyond reality. One show will deal with a legitimate way to deal with a health issue. Another show will deal with another way to deal with the same issue that contradicts the other method.

Yes, this is a reality show wrapped into bubble gum and then blown out at people. Dr. Oz name is used in a lot of internet scams too. Then again, there are shows where it is obvious something is being pushed by a sponsor for their gain, and not the audience well-being.

There can be value to this as it illustrates plainly how well fake news can be wrapped in with real news and sea food until the fish spoils because it got left in the hot lights. Then the next show puts the spoiled seafood back on ice and ex tolls it's benefits.

Then during the sweeps someone like OJ shows up to tell us why he did or didn't do it. Then again, there are shows about health and OJ (the real juice) too. Maybe the North Korea guy will show up during the next sweeps and explain his contribution to climate change?

He's a pervert
sunisfun-993724 September 2019
Seen this guy touching women he has on the show? It's inappropriate. Also, he has stolen material from another doctor about diet and health. Dr. Berg was asked to be on the show, prepared 30 hours of material, sent it over then they called him and said nevermind. While later....they did a whole show using Dr Berg's material and Oz claimed it was his own. He's a total creep!!!

Brilliant Physician, Fine Personality & Frustrated Game Show Host!
redryan643 June 2014
IT HAS BEEN said that "Politics makes for strange bedfellows." Well, just a word to the wise for whomever it was who did say that, well so does daytime television.

IT WAS QUITE by accident that we stumbled onto this gem of an information bank. Wehad of course, heard about him and his ride to fame in the electronic media, due to his association with Oprah Winfrey. Being vaguely familiar, however, did not last long once we got a load of his hourly 'appointments.'

UPON FIRST OBSERVATION one would surmise that this was strictly a women's show; for, after all, the audience seems to be, like Ivory Snow, 99 44/100 female. It is easy to see why; for Dr. Oz, that sly fox, is a born Ladies' Man! Energetic and truly pleasant, he always charms. He never appears to be using a teleprompter, nor to be using any previously prepared scripted material. Intelligent, natural and humble are three of his strong points, among others.

ALTHOUGH THE GOOD Doctor's audience may be a girl's club, the information he presents is largely useful to anyone, regardless of their sex. Nutrition myths exploded seems to be a major theme; as Doc presents us with examples of the latest evidence about just what's good for us. As often as not, segments like this are dramatized with the assistance of an MD or PhD, who has both extensive experience and expertise in that particular field being discussed.

INSTINCTIVELY, THE SHOW'S production team knew to make maximum use of audience participation by audience members. Certain subject matter will also require the use of his "Special Assistant" of the day; an honor that seems likely to be as coveted as "Prom Queen" or "Miss Congeniality!"

THE VARIOUS 'SKITS' that are carefully contrived to be both entertaining and informative, are some over-sized "Rube Goldberg-type" props. In that manner, humor is added to the programs arsenal. And this would be the sort of humor that often makes reference to that which is already familiar to us in the Pop Culture world. His mock panel show, 'FAMILY FOOD', is a prime example.

IF YOU AREN'T yet familiar with THE DR.OZ SHOW, you should give it a try; even if you are a male. But remember, view it with pen and notebook in hand. But, if you don't keep a running short hand narrative, no problem; for his programs may be downloaded at his website www.doctoroz.com. (Clever, these Americans!)

Not bad however...
ThunderKing61 January 2021
Why does he always touch the female audience members?

I've noticed it from the beginning. He is touchy like a guy named Joe.

Anyways it's an educational show. whether or not Oz is an actual doctor or 100% accurate or not. The show has some positive qualities. I mean I rather watch this than the Oprah show or the bachelor at any means.

Oz is a good host, he is direct and has good communication skills despite his touchy hands.

I'm pretty sure he beats around the bush on some topics due to the fact the health industry is a business. They need sick people.

Verdict: Wizard of Oz of the land of the sick.

Dr. Oz show directed towards 5 year olds!
bangzinga7 March 2013
I can't believe how childish this show is! Dr oz brings people from the audience to participate in poking dried up body parts where a dried human liver looks identical to dried kidney! The concept is a cross between medical information and a game show with childish women! There is so much time wasted with the audience members that it becomes unbearable! The games he plays are absolutely ridiculous and instead of the information being delivered effectively there is lot of stuffing around with childish games that are tedious and end nowhere! The format of the show is again juvenile and an insult to our intelligence! I just turned over to the Dr oz show to see what topics he was addressing today and surprise surprise, it was about diets for the 10,000 th time! I think that he has addressed the subject of what constitutes a good diet enough but obviously he doesn't think so! I can't believe Oprah was associated with this show being as bad as it is!

Great show to help get informed and stay in better health
phan-592-2953915 March 2014
This is a great way to enhance your health with supplemental material from the nih.gov and your doctor visits.

For your next doctor, keep a medical log with bpm, temp.,pulse, pain scale, Q&A. A nih.gov vaccine schedule is a must. The ShareCare App is good to have also. http://www.vaccines.gov/who_and_when/adults/index.html

The holistic program addresses disease prevention, best practices, toxic product, fitness, women's health, and in more modern medicine.

The 30 minute format is broken into a demo segment with small interview with guest and medical professional. And ending a fitness or wellness segment.

Oz Sharecare iOS(2013)/Android(Coming 2014) App is useful for doctor visits and worth a try.

The show promote active precipitation in your health, a lot of vitamin supplements, vegetables, and trendy products/diets. I like the fact these more natural products and produce lessen the use of Rx drugs that may have hidden side effects. Drugs companies that make Ambien ,Liptor, and etc aren't always honest about submitting side effect data to the FDA.

Other reviewers had stated this show has too simple demo and gears toward the "makeup" crowd, but the daytime demographic is gears towards health conscious women and medical office background play.

In the last 5 season, this has been a reliable medical source addressing toxins (in apple juice, potatoes, milk, sofas), excessive radiation, sweeteners/dyes.

Use the Dr.Oz Show and Oz Website as a starter not a sole source of health data. Older episode can viewed at Oz Website since you won't get much from watch a few episodes.

Roseanne interview
boohoou20 September 2018
I never watched this show much. That being said after watching Dr. Oz's so- called biased interview with Roseanne Barr this week I will never watch it again . This man bullied and tried to tear down a woman who was in the show to apologize for a statement she made that has been blown out of proportion. This man asked her on the show then railroaded her and followed up with a panel of so called experts who continued to Judge and tear Ms. Barr apart . It was heartbreaking and just disgusting. Would not recommend!

Dr Oz focuses on natural cures and preventative
dasnj8 March 2022
Dr Oz has been recommending natural cures to prevent disease and disability for decades. People are just against Dr Oz because he promoted natural preventative during the pandemic. Open your eyes and look at the stats. ISA has the most deaths from covid. Countries like South Korea and India have had much less deaths. Researchers believe that use of Indian herbs such as turmeric, and South Korean kimchee have kept down deaths in those countries. It's just cancel culture where unless you agree with the very vocal far left your life will be miserable. Dr Oz is spot on the month - natural foods and exercise will prevent heart disease and cancer and save you lots of money. Something doctors that treat heart disease and cancer don't want you to know about.
