On the heels of last week's news that Malcolm Bricklin, the subject of the film, won a $2Mm settlement against a Chinese auto manufacturer, "The Entrepreneur" hit #1 in the iTunes documentaries store. When he reviewed the film when it was released in 2009, Indiewire's chief film critic Eric Kohn referred to "The Entrepreneur" as "'Death of a Salesman'" of car movies." The doc initially premiered on SnagFilms,...

One good measure of a documentary is how it enlightens. That is, it teaches you something about space travel, World War 2, spelling bees, etc., Another good measure of a documentary is how it communicates basic human nature. That is to say, no matter how different we are, there are of course many things that we all share. The Entrepreneur is a compelling and low-key documentary that covers both bases remarkably well. The film offers a fascinating look at an industry that, on the surface, sounds pretty darn boring. And then it becomes a human interest story about a die-hard businessman who simply doesn't know the meaning of the word "quit."
The subject is Mr. Malcolm Bricklin, a colorful and sharply intelligent businessman who knows the pleasure of huge successes -- and the miseries of huge failures. Fans of the automotive industry will know Bricklin as the man who brought Subaru...

Sure, film festivals and limited theatrical runs have their imperative place in the world of indie film. But the landscape is changing. Fast. Now, filmmakers are looking more to the digital space to find the widest audience
One such filmmaker is Morgan Spurlock, the man behind the hit fast food expose 'Super Size Me' and perhaps the only "celebrity documentarian" next to Michael Moore.
Spurlock - who already is showing 'Super Size Me' in full for free on SnagFilms, now brings his latest, 'The Entrepreneur' (he's executive producer) online for a full week before the film's TV debut.
'The Entrepreneur' - a doc directed by Jonathan Bricklin about his father Malcolm, who attempted to create, from scratch, a new American car company, kicks off SnagFilm's SummerFest, in which they'll debut a new film that has not yet been distributed every week. Watch the film in full here.

Jonathan Bricklin’s “The Entrepreneur” is the “Death of a Salesman” of car movies. That’s not to say it reveals the depths of character explored in Arthur Miller’s classic text, but Bricklin does succeed at showing the precise mayhem of the business and the tragedy of missing the finish line. A portrait of the director’s father, seventy-year-old automobile entrepreneur Malcolm Bricklin, the movie tracks an idea from concept to execution to frustration …...
