It's for you, not them

It drives me insane that people complain about episodes like this. The "we want our entertainment, stop preaching" crowd is missing the point. These episodes aren't for people of color. They know what they have to deal with. They live it. These episodes are for people like me. Straight, white men. We deserve constant reminders. We should have the problems of others thrown in our faces. As often as possible. We need to understand that this isn't a "hot topic". It's a daily occurrence. It's a way of life. A way of life that should not be tolerated. If that means my favorite shows take time to shove that in my face, I applaud them for it. We all need to care about each other. We all need to be in this together.

Wait and see

I find that a lot of critics here are unfair. It was a good episode, with some character constellations that we never had before (Vic and Jack, Sullivan and Travis). Yeah the end was something that is old and maybe they are going to write it bad, but I am looking forward for a good episode next week, because it has a lot space to be good. Just wanted to add, that it still could be boring, but this plot fits perfectly fine into this season.

Hard to understand

Warning: Spoilers
What a lot of the people in the reviews don't seem to understand is that this season (and that of grey's anatomy) takes place at the beginning of the corona pandemic. So yes, the murder (at the moment of writing the murderer was found guilty, so it is indeed a murder) takes places during the episodes. Some things that happened simply can't be ignored. Back in 2001 every tv show had a 9/11 related episode, the same happens now. In my opinion it was done beautifully because 1: the firefighters experienced it a few episodes before and 2: they saved the black man the same day George Floyd was murdered (maybe even at the same time?)

Way Too Late
spikeluvr16 April 2021
The episode was up to its usual high standard until the end when they "learned" of the George Floyd death. And the previews show them using the whole episode next week to talk about the Floyd death. They should have covered that a long time ago. Doing it now after everyone else has covered it over and over again just makes it seem redundant and tacked on. Unless they can somehow tie it into what the show is supposed to be about it's just going to feel like another set of writers trying to be current without bothering to create a good piece of entertainment. They aren't a news show and viewers don't tune in to get another lecture.

Here it comes...
This has been a pretty decent show, a good lead in to Grey's Anatomy. It's bordered this year on a little preachy with some pretty obvious political overtones but they've not done a horrible job keeping it from being crammed down our throats. If the end of this episode (and the following Grey's episode we couldn't even finish) is any indication, this show is going down a rabbit hole that will, in our minds, make it as unwatchable as Grey's is becoming. Introducing this issue - after almost a full year - looks like a desperate attempt to gain ratings in the current political climate. When TV begins to act like the news, it ceases being entertainment and becomes just another source of depression in a very ugly world.

A burning zamboni?!? Really?
blreider11 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Forget the political overtones everyone is complaining about. Does anyone really think a zamboni would keep running after burning for that long? At least the tires would have melted by this point. Overall the series is grasping more than ever and this is just the latest in trying to come up with "new" emergencies to deal with while fighting the current political climate. Terrible overall.

They just can't help themselves

Warning: Spoilers
Let me sum up the absurdity of this episode in two lines:

"Help my husband!" cried the horrified wife.

"Ma'am, will please put this mask on."

The plot line was ridiculous, the dialogue contrived. What was once a show that had potential, is now a colossal virtue signaling snooze-fest.

I no longer care about the characters. I think hubby is going to have to watch this show without me from now on.

Save politics for the nightly news!
brennansmomma29 March 2022
Even Shonda Rhimes understands that filling an episode full of controversial topics dates the series, at best, and will be so off-putting that their viewers will be dropping off in droves. I'll bet there is not a single viewer who watches Station 19 for the information that the show drills in episode after episode.....wear that mask! Police hate brown people! History is wrong!

THIS IS ENTERTAINMENT!! Leave the preaching and politics to those who do it better than Ms. Rhimes. She does a mean series if she could get to know her audience and imagine why they are watching.....it's not for the constant reminders of the unjust world in which we live. Nobody watches Station 19 for their nightly news!
