Too long for the story it tells

Trio of girls needing money decide to seduce rich men, drug them and then take their money, but things don't run smoothly and it isn't long before they are in over their heads.

Maverick Entertainment release is one of their lesser films. Not really bad, its just not very good with the uneven performances and shot on video format giving the film a sense that this is little more than a glorified home movie. I think the film would have been better had it been a bit more to the point, running over two hours makes this too much of an okay thing, with scenes that just seem to go on.

Its not going to kill you if you see it, but at the same time I don't think you'll really make it to the end if you do watch it, I had a hard time doing so but left it on because I was doing things around it. Had I not been watching it on a DVD I probably would have started channel surfing.

The pass is for it's unique idea for it had a higher budget my rating might've been higher

(2009) Jack Squad CRIME DRAMA

Written and directed by Simuel Denell Rankins with Kennedy (Dawn Halfkenny), Dawn (Onira Tares) and Mona (Patshreba Villegas) agreeing to enrich themselves by going after "already" married men, and stealing their money and jewelry, while each one are asleep, as a result of drugging them. The name "Jack" is a slang for hustling married men of their cash, agreeing to call themselves "Jack" Squad hence the title. Spoil As soon as Kennedy hustled a guy named Smooth, it was soon revealed that Smooth is not who he portrayed himself to be, and that he was actually working in the drug trade. The bag of money Kennedy jacked or had hustled was actually drug money he was supposed to return. Motivating the leader of that gang to suspect that it was one of the 3 ladies of the "Jack Squad" who stolen it. At gunpoint, Dawn gets kidnapped she gets threatened by the leader of that drug gang to bring or return that bag of money she knows nothing about, since Kennedy chose not to reveal this to her Jack Squad friends. Except that during Dawn's interrogation, the gang leader would then get her hooked into some drugs making her to do extreme things like shoot and kill people like Mona's abuser.

Again, although, this is super low budget with second rate performances, I was able to tolerate this as a result of the not losing focus in terms of the story line and for that it warrants a pass.

I don't mind that the acting is no good, but at least the actors are passionate. It has interesting themes but the movie is way too long. This should have been no more than 80 minutes, short and sweet and maybe with humor. A lot of scenes could have been cut out or cut short. I think for what it is it takes itself too seriously. The story progression was predictable as soon as they showed the bag full of cash I knew right away where it was heading. Who is dumb enough to steal a bag of cash, that money is obviously not legal! It was still fun in some parts and the film making was competent.

Way too long

This movie could have easily been 80 or 90 minutes. I hate movies where they attempt to promote their favorite rap artists, so they play whole songs during the movie. There were some really stupid events. Where the two shot Derringer shot three people. A duffbag full of money, fed wrapped 100 dollar bills. The amount turned out to be 50 thousand dollars, something you could fit in your pockets lol. The acting is mediocre and the sets are pathetic.

This Movie Was Really Good

I enjoyed it, and the great thing about this country is that we are all entitled to our own opinion, there are plenty of other movies out there that I thought were sorry as h*ll but other people said they were great. This movie was enjoyable, and it kept me entertained for a couple of hours. I liked the premise of the story and thought it was well executed. Never saw the ending coming and thought it was a nice little twist. The lead girls in the movie were hot and the acting was pretty good. I watched this movie from beginning to end nonstop. No expectations of it being a blockbuster, best movie ever, have to watch it, unmissable etc etc etc. Gave it a chance and for me it delivered. Just a pure suspension of belief, sit down and be entertained movie. If you are seeking something more than that then you probably need to pick up your typical Hollywood Movie, with the same rehashed stories over and over.

I'm a filmmaker also and I got this video to see what's out there in the independent game.I was surprised by the video look of the movie, but once I got past that , it was an enjoyable couple of hrs. Well done.I would have like to see more back story on the main characters and also" Gray" the gangster overlord. For all practical purposes it was a good script and the acting was on point.. the lead girl "GINA" was really good and id like to see her in more roles if possible. Overall Ill give the movie a 7/8 for general presentation. I'm looking forward to seeing more from this company.The box cover was great and the overall feel was good.
