Wayward and miserable bloodsucker Burt (a solid and likable performance by Jerrod Bogard) ain't having a good time of it. Shunned by both his fellow vampires and the human race, Burt searches to find his place in a cruel and unforgiving world where being a lonely undead person quite simply sucks. Writer/director Elias neatly mines an amiable and often amusing line in pleasingly dry'n'deadpan dark humor, with Burt's abortive and ill-advised multiple attempts at suicide providing most of the best and biggest laughs (Burt even tries to impale himself on a wooden stake!). Bogard's engaging portrayal of the hapless Burt makes the poor wretch genuinely sympathetic. Mika Gill and Jane Montosi are funny as a couple of drunken party girl bimbos while Adriana Moretti has a memorably sexy bit as an aggressively amorous blonde. Trent Ermes' polished cinematography offers a few nifty visuals of the dark blue nocturnal sky. Tomas Almgren's spare shivery score also does the trick. A real hoot.
