A Christmas Themed Horror Short That Wins You Over On Concept, As Opposed To Execution.
meddlecore22 November 2022
Jolly is an approximately four minute Christmas themed short film from 2020.

Which can be found and viewed on youtube.

There's not much to this one to be honest.

It features a man, sleeping on his couch on Christmas Eve.

Who's awoken by a kitsch talking robotic Santa head, that sits, unominously, on his end table.

It's comments are relatively banal at first.

But they start to get more and more threatening, as he continues to talk.

The man laughs the threats off...as it's just a robotic head and all...but that turns out to be a mistake he won't live to regret.

Another simple, yet fun, little amateur horror short that wins you over on concept, rather than execution.

2.5 out of 10.

it is just shame !

A man laying on couch .

An animatronic Santa head interpreting its songs with pause of few minutes.

Enough for a very short film about Christmas Eve. Because the purpoise is simple - to remind bizzarerie of animatronic toys, to remind the entire fatigue of christmas Eve, between job and holliday period.

Good photography, nice work of toy and actor.

But the end is just awful. Absurd, quasistupid and forced. Because the director figures this film as a horror. It is not . Maybe a kitch version of Sleepy Hollow.

And it is just shame to destroy, so foolish a nice idea, rich in signification, a sort of Seinfeld, for my taste better for a crazy end , returning to dusty holliday slasher in some form.
