- The Wendells concoct a plot to trap the minister in an act of adultery and blackmail him into giving them the deed to his home. Mrs. Wendell flirts with the minister on several occasions, but nothing sexual is mentioned or implied. Mr. Wendell "catches" his wife and the minister in a compromising position, as they kiss and cuddle on a bed but quickly separate when he comes in. Both are fully clothed, and nothing is explicitly said or implied, but theirs is clearly an immoral relationship.
