All at sea

I have watched a lot of streaming sites lately so I am not used to having to wait a week for an episode (even though Britbox is a streaming site) so this does seem to lacking in momentum.

I don't know if it is the south of England trying to do Scandi Noir or it is just slow and plodding.

I find none of the characters warming or worth caring about.

I guess, apart from the BBC, you don't have hour long shows these days. These episodes could easily be done in the ITV time of around 45 minutes.

A bit wet.

Frances cements a future at The Rattery House, by taking a keen interest in Phil. Strangeways continues to investigate, but is battling some incredibly tough demons.

This is definitely the mid point lull, I thought quite a lot of the first two episodes, this one was something of a disappointing. Unfortunately this doesn't really go anywhere, we see Frances spotting opportunities around every corner, and Nigel beginning to spiral our of control.

I find the actual storytelling in this one a little jarring, at times it feels as if Rattery has rumbled Frances, and is playing some sort of game, other times he seems almost naive.

The filming is spot on, it looks terrific, some really nice aerial shots, and good scenes at sea. The acting continues to be a major strength, it is relying heavy on the presence and clout of Jared Harris.

If I'm being honest, I found this one a bit of a letdown, nothing actually happens here. 5/10.
