If it doesn't have your name on it, don't open it. Common sense, right? Not for Mr. Spacely who finds a crate addressed to Cogswell Cogs in his warehouse. He opens it to discover a robotic dog called Sentro. He instantly puts Sentro in charge of his company's latest perfection. Confection, you might say. It's a chocolate microchip cookie. Once ingested, it can make a person power a computer...or something like that, they vaguely explain it. Why would they need that anyway? Trying to save on electricity? Anyway, as it turns out, Sentro is being controlled by a little galactic sneak named, appropriately Galactica Sneak and, you guessed it, he's working for Cogswell. The cog guru tells him to steal the microchip by any means possible then goes back to writing his ad for a new secretary. He wants a young, gorgeous, mindless girl who would better serve as a date than a secretary. My, but Cogswell is a perverted old bastard in this episode; Sentro makes off with Spacely's cookie and the sprocket guru realizes he's been made into the galaxy's biggest dope...er, dupe. Well, both. Meanwhile, George sees Cogswell's ad and tells Mr. Spacely, who gets an idea. An awful idea. Spacely gets a wonderful, awful, and hilarious idea: he wound send an applicant Cogswell's way to infiltrate the plant and get that microchip back. Who is the applicant, you may wonder? Georgina Jetstream...Yes, George in drag. He refuses, but it was either cross dress or go unemployed.
So George becomes Georgina because he's such a loyal idiot. But his family stands behind him no matter what. Even Judy has no qualms in admitting the man in a dress is her father. Even though George looks like a woman, he still talks like a man, so Jane provides him with a tape deck complete with a tape of her voice set up for every possible situation.... to put it more simply, Jane read ahead in the script and recorded the dialog for George, so let's hope Cogswell and Sneak don't plan on ad-libbing because it would really throw him off. So 'Georgina' sees Cogswell, who instantly flirts with 'her' and hires the applicant right away. He even wants to take him out to lunch, where Cogswell will meet Sneak and get his cookie. 'Georgina' hates to go through with it, but Spacely insists, telling him to use his sex appeal. Er, this is a kids' show, isn't it? Well, Cogswell and Georgina go out to dine. Sneak blackmails more money for the cookie, which Georgina manages to procure by taking it from Sneak while dancing with him, and hides it in his mouth. That's when the wig comes off and the jig is up. Recognizing George, Cogswell gives chase while Sneak sics Sentro on him. After a wild chase, which involves Sentro evaporating clouds and George's car, the chocolate microchip is returned to Spacely, who wants to see how George pulled it off. He demonstrates by putting the cookie back in his mouth...and as you probably guessed, Spacely slaps him in the stomach, causing him to swallow.
This is another of my least favorite episodes, and Spacely is my least favorite character. He's just plain nasty. It would make more sense if Cogswell were the nasty one, but he's actually the nicer of the two. Sure he's perverted, but he seems to have a more mild temper. Spacely is a more convincing villain than Cogswell. Why can't George go work for him? Oh well. If you hate Mr. Spacely and don't like these episodes of him competing with Cogswell, then I'd skip "Solar Snoops". Bad as it is, it's still better than anything animated on CN today.
