A DIRTY GANGSTER STORY!
deluca.lorenzo@libero.it6 January 2021
A very interesting entry for HK director-stuntman Law Ki, THE RATS (official english title) tells the story of a small group of youngsters lookin' for the big chance in the underworld. They'll have what they want but the final result will be a gigantic defeat. HK playboy star Alan Tang (1946-2011) made more than 100 films and this is one of his most fascinating result as an angel-faced rascal. The typical 70's cars, dressing and the pessimistic look to a society where only the strongest can survive, all add a rough charme. The fans of the good old HK cinema like me, will be delighted to recognizing stuntmen like Tong Kam Tong (Dagon Force), Tony Ching Siu Ting (A Chinese Ghost Story's director), Jackie Chan's friends Yuen Bun and Yuen Kwai and the director himself Law Ki (as a cop), plus occidental stuntman Alexander (Fist of Fury, Boxer Rebellion), and many others. The very unperfect tech-values like the dirty photography encrease a sense of real that makes the english title THE RATS so appropriate.
