Second half, TOO upsetting.
ultimatedisneycruisefan21 September 2021
DW's Library Card, I must say I liked. But the other one....sheesh. As a wise Disney character (Sprig from Amphibia) once said "This episode has some intense final scenes. It might be scary for younger viewers". Why couldn't they add an adult supervision message at the start of the second one? I'm staying with the first one. That's MUUUCH safer. 10 stars for the Library Card, buuut I'm not so sure on the other. Sorry, Arthur...please forgive me but it wasn't right to do that. I love you Arthur, you're definitely the best show I've ever met, but this has gone too far. Just take it easy, pal. I believe in you.

D.W.s library card was a good episode in my eyes. However I do not think I can say the same about Arthurs Bit Hit.

Warning: Spoilers
After looking on Arthurs Bit Hit now a day I kinda see why a lot of fans really dislike it. Plus I heard that even the shows creator himself (Marc Brown) hates this particular episode as well.

One Of The Worst Episodes Ever
jeremycrimsonfox11 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Yeah, this episode is basically the worst mainly because of Arthur's Big Hit, an episode that is so controversial among the show's fan base. Basically, Arthur gets grounded for punching D.W. when she wrecks his model plane after warning her not to touch it, and he gets treated like a bad guy.

The first problem is the moral. Yes, it is not nice to hit someone, however this episode botches the moral, as while Arthur gets punished, D. W. gets off scot-free for breaking his model airplane, which he warned her many times not to touch. And Binky has the nerve near the end to use the little kid excuse on Arthur. It's no wonder D.W. is one of the most hated characters in the series.

And another problem is when Binky punches Arthur on the account of peer pressure, his parents decide to do nothing, deciding to treat the incident as karma and asking him if he felt how D.W. felt. Parents of the year, ladies and gentlemen. What Binky did would land him in juvi, but Mr. and Mrs. Reed decide to let it slide in order to make Arthur teach his lesson, making me wonder if they are even fit to be Arthur's parents in the first place.

How did this atrocity get past the PBS censors? This isn't educational. It's basically an episode where D.W. gets away with ignoring Arthur's warnings, and Arthur is treated as the bad guy all because he got grounded for punching his sister to the point where when he is punched, the parents treat it as karma and D.W. has the nerve to say she didn't know a model plane would fly and she's just a child, despite Arthur telling her many times not to touch the plane. Take my advice, parents, never show your kids this episode, as this is a prime example of how Arthur tries to teach a lesson, but fails.

He did tell her many times not to touch it...
ThunderKing622 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
As a comedy intention show this show would get away with things. As a children, learning show this show has many flaws. I've already stated a lot on my Arthur Review so feel free to go find it and read it (Its lengthy).

DWs Library Card: An episode about determination and self learning. 97% of the show was great. We got to see DW grow. Then at the end DW resorts to annoying Arthur to have him read a book to her every day.

Not Cool. it felt DW grew 11 steps forward then 9 steps back.

Arthur's Bit Hit: I side with Arthur and I understand how he feels. Arthur told DW not to touch his plane that he built on his own many times. DW then ignores his words and crashes his plane. Arthur upset resorted to punching DW. All we know is of Arthur getting in trouble, blamed on by peers and Binky punching Arthur. Yet DW, what it seems got away with what she did to Arthur. (Nothing new).

Binky hitting Arthur for no reason vs Arthur hitting DW for breaking his plane after he told her not to touch it are 2 different stories. The parents at the end tried to justify it. Bad parenting.

Verdict: The producers, thought I wouldn't get old to justify that Arthur's reaction was justified while his actions was still wrong. And that DW should have been seen being punished by her parents for what she did to Arthur.

We see Arthur getting punished but not DW.. Does not give proper message
ppamjo210 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The one about the library card Should have shown how kids really get their cards... Most libraries have your parents fill out info on a computer then you get a plastic card,, They never touch on renewal limits... At the end she thinks she can endlessly renew a book...

The one where Arthur hits his sister has some problems... Sure he hit his sister,, But we only see HIS PUNISHMENTS,,, If he could not watch Bionic Bunny then Dora would not have been able to watch Mary Moo Cow... He told her many times not to touch it... Even told her not to touch it when the paint was wet... NO PUNSHMENTS for her.. It is like the parents let her slide on everything... She is a child She says to Arthur... Well so is he...

We don't see her being punished and his friends are just as bad when they make him out to be the bad egg when she was far worse...

If you remember watching Arthur as a young kid, you most likely hated this episode as much as I did.

Warning: Spoilers
No it wasn't right for Arthur to hit D. W. But at the same time, D. W. was being a brat and I think the parents should've been more strict with D. W for damaging Arthur's plane. The parents should've kept D. W. out of Arthur's room knowing she was a troublemaker big time in this episode.

Okay, Y'all will have beef with me
natepike2 May 2024
Many people will hate Arthur's Big Hit (mainly for its target at violence), but you guys don't understand. The part where Arthur punches her sister became an internet meme for a long time. She deserved it for breaking Arthur's toy plane (despite him getting punished for punching D. W). Y'all are missing the point. It also teaches us not to punch someone when they touch/brake our things. Stop treating this episode with disrespect. Y'all are monsters to Arthur like I mean seriously, stop. The Arthur fist is so famous for being a meme. Anyways, this got to stop. Just stop. Y'all are insane to me a bit.

Horrendous Episode
lmoriarty-1742027 August 2020
The whole episode sends the complete wrong message about sibling violence to its intended 5-9 year old demographic. The unrealistic and outright contrived approach scars throughout the entirety of the episode. Definitely do not recommend for any avid fan of Arthur.

Binky should be punished as well
bluedivadesi27 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know why Arthur gets all the punishments until he tells D. W. Sorry for hitting her, we never got to see how binkys parents say about him and binky should have been punished for a month, and Jane or mrs. Barnes should have said his full name. Matter fact all members of the tough costumers should be punished better yet they should be expelled and be separated from each other, and Arthur's school mates should never barge in the conversation of Arthur pounding DW, it's between him and DW. They should tell binky he should not be hitting Arthur and have a parent- teacher conference with all the parents.

DW are you happy binky hit Arthur?
bluediva-2437224 December 2023
DW Arthur hit you for breaking his plane, and you get upset and when binky hit Arthur for no reason you are fine with that? It's good that you apologized to each other and you didn't have binky punished for a month. Why can't he be punished longer than Arthur. I want to see what binky, and the other tough costumers parents think of it. They should have been punished for even forcing him to do it especially if it wasn't his business. And everyone should tell binky that same thing just like Arthur. Try shouting out binkys full name like Arthur, you were mad at Arthur but not mad at binky, you never get mad at binky.

Ignore the "great" reviews
emilyrobertson-1498425 March 2022
This episode teaches kids wrong. Arther punches dw. COME ON NOT KID FRIENDLY!! This show is making content for 11 year olds when their audiences are aged 4-7. Like, come on what do those ages have in common. There is one 5 star review but look what dw has done. She ruined something really special to Arthur. And yet Arthur gets yelled at? I have a twin sister, and we get into fights. This is teaching children that having a fight only once with you twin/ sibling is bad enough. Everything about this episode sucks and the show, like one episode Arthur is trying to tell children to get the big bully at school to punch your lose tooth out and don't care about your own bruise? It is different with deku from mha but still? Mha is targeted at tweens. While arthur is targeted at little tiny kiddos. Try better.

Arthur is purely Garbage, This show is Really horrible and fails to entertain it's viewers.
haxleyandrew5 February 2012
There were some times when Arthur first aired on TV for quite a while now. Now they just release out new episodes with the same garbage and same old aardvark which is Arthur.

So right now before i go into discussing about this show. I wanna tell you that when i was a child i first saw Arthur on TV. No joke but then we had to turn it off because it was not appropriate. Now it becomes boring and most recently it's horrible due to the bullying.

Kids are not to learn any of the bullying or violence from this show. And it goes on to say why is this TV Show really bad. I will tell you why. First off Arthur TV Show is just horrible to watch. Second it's a show that has nothing appropriate. And third the show promotes violence and has psychical content that i think has gone too far.

The reason why this TV show fails to entertain it's audience is because of what kind of content it really has. Of course speaking of which, This show is like beyond horrible and is your worst nightmare yet. There is a lot going on and kids will not be able to understand from their point of view about Arthur and his sister D.W. and how they used to be friends until they changed quite a bit. And they fight a lot now.

Also the TV show has a lot of bullying where Arthur yells at his sister D.W. and she starts yelling at him too. But the reason why I'm saying this is because most parents will know that none of this stuff is purely made for kids. Sure there is some violence and bullying used in this show. But by all means there is a lot of shoving, Pushing, And fighting, This show was meant to be broadcasted only for Adults. And also i do blame Arthur because when he meant to hit his sister, He means that she destroyed his paper model airplane on purpose and he hit her. Now that is horrible right there.

Also missing from the point of value is education and learning. And Arthur does not promote that here. - Here the story is a lot different because Arthur indeed shows how violent he really is when somebody decides to mess up or torment his stuff all the way. And we never get to see it. But education and learning is another thing that goes beyond my point of value. So unless there was education and learning and it made it educational then of course i would watch it. But I'm not gonna volunteer to watch something boring on TV that is just getting old and really not my favorite anymore.

Though i need to be honest and clear about this show. It really makes me angry. Plus the reason behind is that some director named Greg Baily actually directed this and ruined it for everybody due to it's content. Get over it Greg Baily, I had enough of you directing these episodes. It's time to stop. And also Marc Brown too must stop doing this. Because Greg Baily ruined this entire series because he was rich. So that points to the fact that he can continue to earn money i don't think so.

Also this is lame and really cheesy if you ask me. It's just horrible. With adult humor thrown into the mix, You might remember quite a few jokes but will you get them, No you won't because it makes everyone really ashamed to think that the jokes themselves are not bad at all. But still this takes parts from films like The Hangover or other films like Due Date and adds them to this show.

It's just ridiculous and because it's garbage. I'm not gonna go into it. Greg Baily totally ruined the show like Joel Schumacher did with Batman & Robin. There was a lot going on here and he did not deserve to ruin such a good show. He made a lot of money but who knows what ruins such a good franchise and then a show. Greg Baily should seriously stop making ridiculous episodes of this show just to earn money he won't get it. Plus here are some reasons why i hate this show.

  • Because this show is violent and contains a few violent parts. - Because it promotes bullying and fighting with Arthur and his sister D.W. - Because the producers need to get a life before making a ridiculous TV Show, Because i promise you that this is just awful.

If you are a fan of Arthur, Then don't see it. Nor watch it, Plenty of people think it's horrible and i agree with them. This show is just childish, Silly and pointless, And of course is pretty dumb. Also there is adult jokes and stuff that kids may not be able to understand. It's pointless to watch. So save your money and time by not seeing this TV show for good. Also please save your money and don't get this because you will end up throwing it away.

Also please do not buy the merchandise for this TV show. It's a baby's show and is horrible to watch. Indeed it's the worst TV show because it explains nothing about proper education and because it's like Batman & Robin. So don't go out buying your kids this junk because it's marketed as a baby's show. Also please do not bother watching this show because it's really violent too.

More violence is not the solution to violence!
amandanw-7313128 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
No child should ever watch this episode! This episode teaches kids that the solution to violence is --- MORE VIOLENCE!!!!

Arthur hits his little sister, and everyone in town is mad at him because of it. Arthur keeps saying he doesn't understand. No one in town bothers to explain to him why violence is wrong.

Then Binky Barnes is dared by the other members of The Tough Customers. The dare is to hit the next kid who comes along. That happens to be Arthur. Binky avoids Arthur all day so he won't have to hit him. But then Arthur runs to Binky to return the pen that Binky had dropped. The Tough Customers tell him to hit Arthur now, and he does.

Arthur's reaction is to thank Binky. Arthur says that because Binky hit him, now he knows that hitting is wrong.

This teaches kids that when someone is acting violent, the solution is more violence.

To make it even worse, no one in the episode explains to Arthur WHY violence is wrong. The only thing anyone says is that it's wrong because in both cases -- Arthur hitting DW and Binky hitting Arthur -- the victim was smaller than the person who hit them. That's it. It's wrong to hit because they're smaller? So... if someone is bigger than you or the same size as you, it's ok to hit them? And if someone is being violent, we should respond with more violence?

No wonder our country is increasingly violent. This is what 90s kids were taught.

Arthur's Big Hit is AWFUL
ethanabump8 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
For a show that is usually so good at teaching morals and respecting heavy topics, they certainly dropped the ball hard with Arthur's Big Hit. They ramped up the annoying character of DW a LOT in this episode and made her unbearable. Arthur rightfully is upset after she destroys his model plane and hits her, but his parents ground him and claim they'll also punish DW for what she did. We never see the Read parents even SPEAK to DW about her breaking Arthur's model plane. Then, as if things can't get worse, all of Arthur's friends turn against him and say it was his fault for getting mad about what his brat of a sister did.

Then, when Binky punches Arthur because his friends forced him to, the parents of the year, Mr. And Mrs. Read, have absolutely no sympathy for their 8 year old who got punched by a bully for no reason. After Arthur comes home hurt, all his dad says is "Well, maybe that's how DW felt when you punched her." Not a single word of sympathy for Arthur by either of the award winning parents. In addition, they never contact Binky's parents for their son punching Arthur or the school for discipline. Then when the two siblings apologize to each other, DW half-asses it by adding "But what kind of a stupid plane doesn't fly?" meaning she isn't actually sorry and continues to think it's Arthur's fault that it didn't fly, despite him explaining it's a model. Then she says "I didn't know, I'm just a child, give me a break!" DW, you're 4. Arthur is 8. You are both children, and you're not much younger than Arthur, so that is not an excuse.

For a show that was able to handle serious topics like death, cancer, and even LGBTQ themes, the lessons of "don't hit your siblings" and "don't wreck your siblings' things" were horribly botched, despite them being relatively simple lessons to teach.

This episode also shows how bad Arthur's parents are. This is one of their worst appearances but they show their apparent lack of parenting skills in multiple other episodes as well. They constantly pamper and coddle DW and Arthur is always the one scolded or punished. It's rare to see DW scolded or punished, and it's super gratifying when it does happen. In addition, we never see them talk to DW or punish her for breaking the model plane, which gives the impression that she wasn't punished and therefore children can go around and break things of others with no consequences. Yes, Arthur shouldn't have hit her, but DW shouldn't have broken the plane. Yet, we only see Arthur punished.

Big hit, more like a Big punch to the gut
snickzella14 September 2022
This episode "Arthur's Big Hit" is regarded as the worst episode by a lot of fans of the show. I'm incline to agree with them. But not for the reasons one may think. Arthur punching D. W. is wrong, first and foremost, but what makes it bad is however, the presentation and the aftermath. D. W. Was warned repeatedly not to play with the model airplane, she did anyway, and Arthur's violent response was bad, but to quote the merry murderesses of the Cooke County Jail, "They had it coming, they had it coming, they only have themselves to blame. If you had been there, if you had seen it. How could you tell me that I was wrong". But it's how the parents respond to what Arthur did that is wrong on so many levels, and this leads into the main reason why I personally consider this the worst episode, and a terrible lesson for children. Binky Barnes is my favorite character, he thinks he's a bully, he thinks he's tough, but he's soft and sensitive on the inside. It's character trait I can seriously identify with. But Bink hangs around with some real thugs on the show. The Tough Customers are a group of characters I've always despised on this show, but this one made me hate them. Binky learns about what Arthur did, and he is shocked by this, to which the tough customers say, "We can't remember that guy you beat up Binky", basically telling Binky he needs to punch Arthur the next time he see's him to live up to his reputation. This is so wrong on so many levels. Binky is being shamed, and emotionally blackmailed into hitting his classmate for the pleasure of some really bad kids, and he clearly doesn't want to do it. It's wrong to pressure someone into doing something they don't want to, especially when it means to hurt or humiliate someone else. The worst part of this episode is the lack of consequences. D. W. Get's away with wrecking Arthur's model plane, and her accuse is she is "just a little girl", and this is in spite of the fact that Arthur warned her multiple times. When it comes to foreseeable or expected violence, especially from children, it's important that they realize, "Two wrongs don't make a right", D. W. wasn't told "no" enough and she gets away not considering Arthur's feelings or words. Arthur overacts and takes a violent approach to an otherwise simple solution to the problem, simply tell D. W. Off to his parents about what she did. But no, Arthur has to apologize to someone who will walk away from this incident having learned nothing. Binky punches Arthur after being pressured and emotionally black mailed by his peers into hitting Arthur, and Arthur's parents don't call or confront Binky's parents to report what he did, because they feel Arthur getting hit is appropriate Karma for hitting D. W. As I said before two wrong don't make a right. Children can't learn if there are no consequences. In the case of Binky, I would have love to have seen the Tough Customers get in trouble for pressuring him. And this episode tries to vindicate everyone's bad behaviors. In this episode nothing was learned, nothing was gained, and it sends a wrong message to children.

It's no wonder why this is a meme.
aahari52 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Arthur's Big Hit is considered the worst episode of the series, mainly because of its hypocritical moral regarding violence. Another reason being that D. W. never gets punished for breaking Arthur's model plane (which took him a whole week to put together) after she was repeatedly told not to touch it, nor does Binky for punching Arthur unprovoked near the end of the episode (even though Binky only hit him because he was peer pressured into doing it), thus leaving Arthur the only one to face consequences for his actions. Even though it was still wrong for Arthur to hit his sister, we don't feel bad for D. W. because she acts like a complete brat about destroying Arthur's personal property, doesn't acknowledge Arthur's hurt feelings about it and even blames Arthur for it for supposedly building the plane the wrong way. Is it fair to call a four year old a narcissist? Even Arthur's creator Marc Brown has said that he hates this episode. Honestly, it's no wonder that this episode has become an internet meme.
