Following on from my review of North Pole, this cements my view of Gibbs as a suddenly unexpected father. The outcome is sensitively handled, but I sense that he won't just let it go, leaving openings for future scripts. This also closes off the Ziva and Tony story very satisfactorily, but leaves it in a state that can be opened any time in the future. Altogether a "tying up" episode, and very successful in my view. And I really do not like IMDb's imposition of a six hundred character lower bar on reviews. I have presented my view of the episode adequately and concisely in less, and that's it.

Goodbye Ziva?????

Another interesting scenario where Ziva is back again. I notice other reviewers seem to have become Ziva haters even though NCIS brought her back due to viewers demands (requests). And then some reviewers stating that writing is poor and the are not happy with the scripts or the characters. My question is if you are unhappy with what NCIS is doing now, why are you still watching it? We don't need you. We have so many viewers who love the show (see Neilsen ratings), we no longer need you. Thank you. I loved the show and all the others too. This episode moves us to the end of the Ziva era although they could still bring her back along with Tony. You never know. NCIS, please keep up the work.
Not great

The Ziva storyline of this season could have been better. "In the Wind" is yet another decent episode in the 17th season. There is a lot I liked, but also stuff that felt underhelming. I found "The North Pole" to be a bit better.
Let's start with the good aspects.
. The production values of the episode are great. The episode is well-directed, the music fits the scenery and the acting's superb. Mark Harmon and Cote De Pablo are fantastic indeed.
. There are heartwarming parts in the story and the case does wrap up the Ziva storyline rather well.
But...
. The case about Phineas going missing was not particularly exciting. It was weird how the team kept poking the same suspect, because he kept lying. At the end of the day, I just do not care enough about the relationship between Phineas and Gibbs. The humor as well does not always land. Casey is still not a very interesting character for me.
Overall, a fine episode.
6/10 HK.

Too many threads dangling

Warning: Spoilers
So wtf, this episode spent too much, time with cast goodbyes and silly interactions and left strings dangling. Like if the club owner Victor knew all along about the kid Phineas, why would he clue Gibbs in to his existence as Sahar's son? And how did he hook up with Phineas, since the kid obviously didn't know him? Was Victor the one who planted the GPS in the broken pendant? Who was wearing it at the airport? Had to be the kid, but it didn't set off the TSA alarm. And who was waiting for Phineas in Egypt? And why?
And how many episodes will it take to get rid of Ziva permanently? Come on, she's history. Cote de Pablo left the show of her own accord- move on, for crying out loud!
The writing for this episode was the worst ever, and there have been some recent doozies with this tired series.
