Great to have them back.

Who indeed killed The Maestro, after a superb performance José Castano is found dead.

I was so glad to see this back on the box, and just as Death in Paradise did, Mallorca Files brings us a bit of sun, and a bit of fun.

Max and Miranda are back on the case, and Max is taking an active role in sorting out Miranda's personal life.

Dear thing to note, the visuals, they absolutely nailed it, it looked great, from those dramatic opening scenes to the scenes at the Opera House, it looked very professional, and nicely edited.

Loved the music, sounds, and the new opening credits.

The acting, as always the duo are spot on, Josette Simon, what a classy, brilliant actress she is, she shines every single time, strong performance.

I loved the new Forensics duo, heavy metal loving Roberto Herrera, and newbie Luisa Rosa, first look, she's a little irritating, he's very theatrical, and going to be fun.

Not many can get away with wearing a red leather dress, Inés though, what a stunner.

I really enjoyed it, 8/10.

An operatic mystery
wjspears23 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was a wonderfully written, tongue in cheek mystery revolving around opera. Watching Miranda's (Ellen Rhys) blank face, as characters emoted gloriously at several points was very well done.

When Max (Julian Looman) explains that he learned to love opera when he was nine, and his mother would take him to see them, because his father hated opera, it was sweet to watch the stoic-faced Miranda smile at Max's explanation and enthusiasm.

As far as the last part, where one woman after another steps forward to declare that it was she who killed Jose Castana, I took that to be more of an homage to the legend of Spartacus, than as any "tip of the hat" to the #Me Too movement.

I found this episode of The Mallorca Files to be a really intelligently written and fun episode to watch.

The Maestro
Prismark102 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
There was no new series of Father Brown in 2021 as filming was abandoned due to Covid 19.

However The Mallorca Files did manage a second series but this is a shortened season as Covid did disrupt filming.

In the first episode Miranda and Max go to the opera. Max is keen to see the famous Castana couple in action.

However a night at the opera turns to murder. José Castana is found stabbed to death.

There seems to be no motive for the murder. José was loved by everyone and he left all his money to charity in his will.

However a body of a dead woman suggests something more sinister. She killed herself and Miranda and Max find out that she also played in the orchestra.

The opening episode is written by creator Dan Sefton. It tackles issues surrounding #MeToo. José Castana took advantage of the women at the Opera House.

Sefton borrows from Spartacus when it comes to the reveal. Although I was not sure it entirely worked and it was all a little bit laboured.

There was some gorgeous photography of the artistic scene of Mallorca.

Max gets to show off on the stage. He really is a big fan of opera.

Julian Looman is back in a tuxedo in this episode. Maybe a subtle hint to the Broccolis who might be in the market for a new James Bond.

A new level of #MeToo movement
jajtzenaoko2 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So, the victim of the murder was abuser, abused so many of female colleagues. Then one of them kills him and all of em sign confessions. After that, the chief of police, who is also woman, just puts the case under the carpet. The scenario was too shallow, and just some wierd feminist can watch this and think it's spectacular.

Also, in one segment of the episode, Max's girlfriend admits that she is with him because he is "nice", and because he is great in bed. Really?
