The soap-opera story content on this Girlfriends release gets complicated and even tedious with endless namedropping and gossip before the XXX action commences. Instead of adding to viewer involvement with the characters, this time it proves counter-productive.
Early vignettes deal with redhead (this time out) Bree Daniels' bad reputation, in particular reported by young Shae Snow to have repeatedly hit on her. It gets confusing in a hurry as to who is exactly is a mother or a stepmother or perhaps merely a guardian to the young stars, but Cherie DeVille and then Anastasia Pierce become alarmed at Bree's behavior, even though every character is a lesbian (or about to become one), almost by definition for the label's fans.
After an opening sex scene of Cherie seducing Bree, rather than reprimanding her, Anastasia takes over and summons Bree, Shae, Anastasia's unlikely cousin Sheridan Love (oddly cast as a school counselor), Aaliyah Love (coach of Bree & Shae's cheer squad) and Maggie St. Michaels (described as "Bree's real mom").
This scene really drags on, as both Bree and Shae clam up, becoming shy and refusing to answer as their elders bear down interrogating them about lesbian tendencies and actions. It all turns out to be filler before hot sex scenes between Maggie and Sheridan (filled with improv humor regarding Sheridan's mammoth breasts) and then Bree with her cougar-esque coach Aaliyah.
Worst set-up is for the final vignette of Aaliyah seducing Bree. It begins with a fade-up to a busty blonde puttering in her kitchen who I identified in my mind just by the initials MM (looking her up later I pinned the actress down as Mellanie Monroe), who says hi to Bree, and is identified as BD's mom. Then Bree goes to a bedroom with Aaliyah for the finale, and I'm wondering what significance there was in hiring MM for such a meaningless (and uncredited, as usual) cameo.
