FASTER THAN A SPEEDING BULLET! IT'S SUPER DAD!
tcchelsey21 December 2023
Another great Ernie episode, for all of us Ernie fans back in the day. As much as there's comedy, there's a bit of realism to it all, well written by Ray Singer. In fact, this was the only episode done by Singer, who was long associated with Lucille Ball, also the creator of HERE'S LUCY.

It's the big debate at school as to WHO has the most athletic father, and there's some heavy competition, which gets Ernie down in the dumps. It seems Steve is more the intellectual type, but he willingly agrees to enter a competitive two mile road race to prove he's just as fit as the other dads.

Watch Steve jump rope! --and actually Fred MacMurray appears to be in decent shape. He really isn't over the hill yet! Not without too much surprise, though, the other dads are not exactly road ready. Get it?

Popular actor Herb Anderson, best known as Dennis' father on DENNIS THE MENACE guest stars, and he's always fun to watch, as is Bill Zuckert (as Harry), who usually played cops.

Nicely done, from SEASON 7 remastered (color) dvd box set.
