Interview: Gale Anne Hurd, Natalie Chaidez and Britne Oldford Discuss Their New Syfy Series, Hunters
Debuting on the Syfy this Monday, April 11th is Hunters, the newest genre series from executive producers Gale Anne Hurd and Natalie Chaidez that focuses on a highly classified government organization known as the Exo-Terrorism Unit (Etu), which tracks down and fights alien terrorists. The new series is based on Whitley Strieber’s acclaimed science fiction novel Alien Hunter and stars Nathan Phillips (Wolf Creek), Britne Oldford (American Horror Story), and Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck).
Recently, Daily Dead sat down with Hurd, Chaidez and Oldford to discuss what fans can expect from Hunters, the challenges that came along with adapting the material for television, how Hunters reflects the current political landscape, and much more. TV pundits who were quick to categorize the overnight ratings for the premiere of Essential Media and Entertainment.s 4-part drama The Principal on Sbs as disappointing were too hasty - and misleading.
The broadcaster and producers were more than happy with the combined nationwide figures for the first screening and the repeat the same night.
The first episode last Wednesday drew 361,100 viewers in the five metro cities and a further 115,100 in the regions, for a total of 476,200.
The encore screening on the same night was watched by 98,900 in the metros and 37,800 in the regions for 136,700 combined, so the total was 612,900, with the time-shifting/consolidated figures to come.

"Paranormal Activity 4" is scaring up audiences in theaters this weekend -- returning with a brand new family and a new batch of creepy kids. Taking place five years after the disappearance of Katie and Hunter in Part 2, another suburban family falls victim to evil spirits when a woman and her mysterious child move into their neighborhood. With this flick and last week's "Sinister," it's pretty clear that creepy kids are back in the spotlight! Just goes to show that horror stars come in all shapes and sizes.
