Have always loved animation and that love will never go away. Have said a number of times already of loving and appreciating animation even more now than as a child with my knowledge having (hopefully) broadened outside Disney, Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry and more things being noticeable through young adult eyes not as obvious before. Not that there is any bias as there is terrible animation out there and ones that significantly lose their appeal on adult re-watch.

A personal favourite was always 'Ducktales' and it still is. Something that captivated me as a child and to this day it's among the best shows Disney ever did and have ever done. Making one pine for the classic Disney and the quality of the animated shows they had in the 80s and 90s, as (as cliched as this sounds) they sure don't make them like this anymore. The Disney Channel was one of my favourite channels to watch when younger, can barely watch it now because the quality decline has been so drastic. 'Ducktales' strikes me as a show that is even funnier, more entertaining, more colourful and more inventive as a young adult, with the humour and references more obvious.

"Raiders of the Lost Harp" is for me one of the best episodes of the show, and in my eyes it is certainly among the most entertaining and most creative. Magica De Spell, one of 'Ducktales' better recurring characters, returns after a long time and "Raiders of the Lost Harp", again from personal opinion, is one of her best episodes and shows perfectly what it is that makes her as good a character that she is.

The animation is great. It is bright and colourful with lively fluid movement, smooth drawing and meticulous attention to detail in the backgrounds. The music again is dynamic and beautifully orchestrated, never jarring with the action and full of energy. Disney had many theme songs that were irresistibly catchy to the extent one doesn't forget them, and that for 'Ducktales' to me was one of the best.

Writing is some of the funniest and smartest to come out of 'Ducktales'. Especially the wit between Scrooge and the harp, but also the whole conflict/banter between Scrooge and Magica. The story is wildly creative and compels right from the start to the finish. The character interactions drive the episode brilliantly and the fight scene is one of the best individual scenes of the show, almost as much as for example the climax of "Sir Gyro De Gearloose".

Scrooge is cantankerous and highly amusing, but he is also very smart here and makes decisions that makes one genuinely cheer with joy rather than put head in hands in annoyance. Magica is full of immense personality and her banter and conflict with Scrooge, which is somewhat of a morality battle, has amusement and tension. The lie-detecting harp is hilarious, as is its interaction with Scrooge. Huey, Duey and Louie make nice contributions to the episode and it is easier than it was with their uncle Donald in telling them apart. The minotaur poses a genuine antagonistic threat too. The voice acting is expectedly fabulous, June Foray especially having a blast.

In summary, a wonderful episode and one of the best of 'Ducktales'. 10/10
