Nothing Spectacular
dandrcardinal25 September 2019
I love supporting Canadian films, but I found the acting a bit cringe worthy. The story line wasn't bad, but I had a hard time getting past the poor acting.

I have read a lot really bad reviews on this one but I have to say I enjoyed it enough to watch it all. James Welch Henderson, Arkansas 01/02/2021

Not Great But Watchable
johne-5595224 November 2020
I agree the acting is pretty bad. I did like the "Fall in the country scenery" because it isn't that common in Hallmark type movies. I found it pleasant enough to actually finish it it. It has the usual predictable storyline and pretty lame dialog. No regrets but I definitely wouldn't go for a rewatch.

DON'T BOTHER
linda-plant217 October 2019
As the other reviewer said, the acting was abysmal, and I could only watch for 20 minutes. These 'actors/actresses' need to realise that there is an audience who needs to hear and understanding the dialogue - so NOT speaking at 100 mph is preferable, and only Marlon Brando got away with mumbling - clarity is what we need ! sadly these films do not have subtitles which would help ! Also they must act completely different in their auditions for these films, either that or the casting directors are desperate.

I managed to get as far as the 'party' in this film, but please can Directors get extras who can show more enthusiasm when dancing in the background ! Time and again we see guests at parties/weddings who just slowly bob around like they've all got leaden feet. We watch these films to escape our mundane lives for a couple of hours, not be made aware that our lives are so much better !!11

Awful acting, lovely scenery.
rosey-148 April 2021
The acting of the leads was just dire, it would have been better for the actress playing the sister to lead as she could at least act. The lead actress couldn't act, had a strange voice and even odder lips, what were they thinking! The lead men were as bad, neither could act and weren't cast well. The child was as bad but her age was a factor in it, no excuse for the lead adults. Next time cast the sister in the lead, she could act and had a pretty, natural face. The script was weak, all in all abysmal.

The only upside was the scenery was glorious.

Good storyline but...
kentwoodard23 September 2020
The acting is really bad - painful to watch. A good story... too bad it was overshadowed by the pathetic acting...

Did no one tell these people that "smutty" is a word
hehebouncyball22 October 2021
I love Hallmark movies but this one was just trash - really trying too hard to make the lead actress seem hip and cosmopolitan. Here's a fun drinking game - take a shot every time the two leads say "avocado toast" - you'll be dead before the end of the movie. Also, the lead actress "makes up a word" for pretty and smug... it did not go well.

Warning: Spoilers
It sounds like a broken record with all the other reviews but I shut it off. It wasn't the movie I was expecting it to be and it was just not something that kept my interest. I knew the premise beforehand and when she bumped into the guy, I thought surely THAT couldn't be the new guy because we was so obviously older than her, but no. I was wrong. The weird thing is, the part of the movie that bugged me the most was trying to figure out how she packed THAT many outfits and shoes into her tiny suitcase. She was there for like 5 days (before I shut it off) and had a little tiny carryon. I mean, the views were pretty and im sure the movie is kinda cute, but just not for me.

Pumpkins , fall leaves and corn-y acting
sierrastack1 October 2021
Ok let's be honest we aren't here for the story , script or acting skills. But the fall scenery and decor are perfect for the harvest mood and watching season appropriate movies is why we love hallmark. Sure I've seen better , but did they have 15 scenes with pumpkins in them ? No they did not.

Yuck

Brigitte Kingsley is just terrible. I hated her character within two minutes and her acting is horrendous. Twenty minutes in and I'm not sure I'll get much farther. Blech.

supporting actors better than the leads
kathyn-3872319 October 2020
This movie has a nice storyline, but the acting is terrible and some of the writing choppy. I wish I would have spent time watching something else and skipped this one

Didn't want to finish
ashleykeylor3 June 2021
It's really difficult to like the leading female. She's just very spoiled and bratty and you're not really cheering for her to end up with anyone. The acting is also a bit rough. I usually love cheesy hallmark movies, but I couldn't do this one.

Painful
sheilajewell3 October 2021
Bad acting as everyone said and the main female character is not a likable snob and doesn't come across as high end like she is supposed to.

Acting??
rebeccaragan-5963826 September 2020
I wanted to like this. In truth I didn't finish it. I couldn't overlook the acting. It's really hard to watch. Maybe these people are better at their craft now. Maybe they were just off. It looks like maybe inexperience but I don't know. Sorry guys but I have to pass on this one 🙁

Totaly lame screenplay/story line!
hooper-653825 August 2021
I usually stay far away from 'she returns to her home town and runs into/meets/has to work with her old boyfriend' films. But here we are told Katie will meet both her old boyfriend and a 'new' love interest. Good start and then headed full speed down hill. First Katie is a woman who fled the town and later when her mother was dying she refused to help her sister care for their mom. Later Katie admits her sister called and she Katie never called the sister back, so they are totally estranged. With all that history Katie winds up staying at her sister's home and then after all the hugs tells her sis the she was forced against her will, by employer to make this return visit to write an article. Had zero to do with seeing her sister, brother in law and very young niece. New love interest reads an article quoting Katie and which upsets him. He confronts Katie who says the article is fiction, totally untrue. Love interest Noah storms off not caring one wit to hear Katie explain how it got printed. One nonsensical mess with zero entertainment value.

Not One of Hallmarks Best
kenaskew19 October 2020
My wife and I are fans of Hallmark Movies. This movie is one I recommend you try to watch when you just anything else of interest. Home for Harvest is well, kind of boring and I hard time not turning it off.

I will be interested in reading the comments of other reviewers.

My Eyes
corbinsigle16 January 2021
Almost everyone in this movie has a creepy deformed face with a protruding jaw, and their mushy bodies all have weird proportions. To make it worse, the lighting is off, so you can see their gross skin, yellow teeth, and dead eyes. I can't even remember the plot because I'm having nightmares. Possibly the worst casting director of all time.

Worst acting
katelynn_dunphy-400231 November 2021
The acting in this movie is so bad. I stopped watching after 15 minutes. What is going on with lifetime and hallmark movies. Can they not afford to hire better actors. The premise seemed cute, but it was awful. These actors should go take some of those acting classes they have available.

Could of been better
rcoleman-0101914 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I wish I had not spent 9.99 on this movie, but the move is ok, poorly executed. Katie gets an assignment to return home and face her demons, however, she meets a good man worth staying for and her ex boyfriend intervenes and writes an article which the citizens believe prompting her to leave town but after some advice she decides to stay and apologize, she finally realized her sister was right. The ex boyfriend should of been ashamed himself from the spying, lying to the restauranter, to the article which blew things out of portion, no one wanted to listen to her.

Apparently, they call this "acting"
kategobe14 October 2022
Rarely does it ever happen that I cannot manage to finish an easy-watch tv romance movie. I can usually see through unrealistic aspects of these kind of movies, less than Oscar-winning acting, or weird script lines.

And yet, after approximately 42 minutes, I simply couldn't handle another minute of Brigitte Kingsley's intensely prissy acting. The tone, accent, attitude, and vibe she gives off is everything you'd expect of a Californian privileged rich high school mean girl. One can easily imagine this actress blurt out: "OMG, that sweater is so last year!" She sounds so snobby and prissy, you almost have to see it to believe it.

Unfortunately, the other actors only make matters worse. The lead's sister's acting mirrors Kingsley's acting, although slightly less tragic. The male characters are all just blurting out lines they learned by heart, as if it's middle school theater. None of the characters have any authenticity which just makes the movie too cringy and irritating to watch.

As bad as Hallmark movie acting can be, rarely is it ever this bad. If you dare to watch this one, be prepared to roll your eyes all the way through it.

Meh, don't waste your time! 3 stars at a push!
mjolly-4606828 September 2022
This is okay if you want something on in the background but seriously, the acting is terrible! No chemistry between main characters whatsoever. Even the sisters were awkward around each other. Overacting, under acting whatever you want to call it! And sorry but the avocado toast he made her looked vomitous. Couldn't watch the whole thing and I had to turn over. I'm sure it's the predictable ending but couldn't watch it all to find out! I like to support Canadian film but this was a hard watch.

Do yourselves a favour and give this one a miss. Life is short and that's 40 minutes of my life I won't get back!

It might be worth sticking past the first 20 minutes
Jackbv12319 October 2022
Brigitte Kingsley receives a lot of bad reviews here, but a lot of those reviewers admit they give up early.

It's not uncommon in this type of movie to do two things. The first meeting between the leads is almost always a purposely bad meeting. Spilling coffee is a common device. The other common trope is for one of the leads, usually the woman, to have some offensive personality traits, but then they disappear instantaneously after the first commercial. Both of these things happen to some degree in this movie. Katie remains a little spoiled, but she definitely mellows and becomes more human.

Kingsley is not a great actor in this movie. The niece is way below average even given her age. The other actors are less than stellar. The dialogue also is not sparkling.

The story starts out as a common one. A reporter is sent back to her home town where she has to encounter her ex boyfriend and she dreads it. This one is slightly different in that there is another guy besides the ex. There is a festival with a competition. Another common plot line in movies with a journalist pops up in a surprising but very clumsy and unlikely way, but that's a bit of a spoiler.

A repetitive theme in this movie is another common one. Small town good. Big city bad.

This movie is not good. It has serious flaws both early and late, but for some people it will be worth sticking with it.

Was it good? no!

Warning: Spoilers
But who really comes to a hallmark movie thinking it will be high quality acting (nobody) Di it make cringe in to the bones, yea it did but that is ok! Now would I choose watch this again NO! But it was good just because of the beautiful views and how it made me feel soooo good!!The only reason i am not giving it any higher is just because the love interest was 30 years older me!

Also O felt trade in schedule to get it back for betrayed her and yeah and I just felt so sad for her and I felt that she was better than that she should go find a guy that can make that avocado toast

goodbye live laugh loveeeeee babesssssss.
