Episode 2

Warning: Spoilers
My concerns after the first episode have been alleviated as this was the exact kind of comedy you expect from a Danny McBride show.

I really hope that fighting becomes a staple of every episode because when done right it is the best kind of physical comedy.

The Real Deal

Skyler Gisondo has come a LONG WAY since playing little Shawn in Psych. This dude has the skills to pay the bills.

I loved the style of transition from last episode to this episode. Showing the events unfold from the opposite perspective was an extremely good call.

And, of course, this episode was HILARIOUS. Another great one in the books.

Such a great second episode focused on several people messing with the Gemstones and investigating them. So much entertainment value and several hilarious parts!

Danny, for the love of God, get a new schtick.

While the concept is fun (God knows greedy, vacuous evangelicals are ripe for satire) and many of the scenes are well orchestrated and effective, for me, the biggest hitch is Danny McBride. He plays the same unrelenting strident petulant character in everything he's ever done. Danny, throttle back and show me a different color once in awhile (remember Up in the Air?). Otherwise, he makes it predictable and when things are predictable they become boring.
