Brisk and efficient Taiwanese kung fu with Lily Li
Leofwine_draca13 February 2017
Warning: Spoilers
ONE FOOT CRANE is a straight kung fu revenge story, filmed in Taiwan with better production values than usual. The opening scene involves the usual massacre of a family with a single girl surviving. One jump cut later and the girl has transformed into kung fu starlet Lily Li, now a mistress of the crane style, and she's gunning for revenge on the bad guys responsible.

What follows is a series of brisk and efficient fight scenes which fill up the running time quite admirably. The film has wuxia trappings although there's no magical content. Li makes for an athletic and agile heroine and is given able support by Barry Chan, himself a star of countless low rent kung fu outings. At one point, Lo Lieh shows up for a 'guest villain' spot, swinging a cool bladed weapon on a chain around his head. ONE FOOT CRANE isn't exactly a masterpiece, but it'll do for now.
