Definately one of my favorite episodes from the entire series.
The fight against Shaka was one of the most fascinating moments from the original Saint Seiya anime, mostly due the mysterious aura of mysticism surrounding this character, and the battle against him is depicted in a rather unusual, almost surrreal manner.
When I saw this episode during my childhood, I knew practically nothing about buddhism, and the sinister depiction of the six realms of rebirth was one of the most horrifying visions of the afterlife I remember getting during my childhood.
I doubt the current CGI series from Crunchyroll would be able to even remotely match this once they finally reach this point of the story.
