Sex & Nudity

Violence & Gore

  • Some blood as the result of falling, being bitten by a dog, and the like.
  • Episode 17 features a room flooded with blood, and a series of later episodes include another room where the floor is covered in blood, as well as walls and a tub.

Profanity

  • In the Funimation English dubbed version of the show, the word "bastard" is used.
  • Uses of "crap", "damn", "ass" and "god" are heard in various English translations and in some other versions.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Some characters smoke cigarettes, but it isn't talked about or glorified.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The show revolves around tracking spirits-- hence the title. Many ghosts are seen, often vengeful and frightening in a spooky way that may stay with you if you watch late at night. One episode features a dozen dead bodies come back to life. They are half-rotted, with skin peeling away from their heads and revealing their skulls.
  • Several cases involve the deaths of children, including one who froze to death.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • Some mild flirting and kissing as well as cutesy teenage crush stuff, e.g. Mai fantasizing about Naru, however this is about as far as it goes. The worst incidences would be one where Mai calls Monk "dirty old man" and another where the characters believe that John thinks that Naru and Mosako are in a "patronage" (prostitution relationship) because of a misunderstanding in terminology.

Profanity

  • Lin makes prejudiced statements towards Japanese people, claiming to hate them and that they're not worth befriending. He later apologizes for it.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Naru passes out and is believed to be dead. He later recovers.
  • There is a scene in which Mai dreams of a pedophile kidnapping and killing a child, after which the child's distraught mother throws herself down a well. Mai later tells Lin and Naru her dream and Naru discovers that there was indeed a child drowned in a pond on the property. The grief of the mother ghost is quite disturbing and may bother some viewers.
