We should go ahead and rename December 12th “Arrow Video Day,” because the fine fiends over there have a ton of titles coming out this Tuesday, including Special Edition sets for The Premonition and Malatesta’s Carnival of Blood, and they’ve also put together standalone special edition Blu-rays for both House and House II: The Second Story. Severin Films is resurrecting Asylum this Tuesday, and fans can finally get their hands on the latest season of Game of Thrones, as well as a box set featuring every episode from all seven seasons.
Other notable releases for December 12th include K-Shop, Once Upon A Time at Christmas, Brackenmore, The Snake Woman, Beware the Lake, and Hollow Creek.
Game of Thrones: The Complete Seventh Season (HBO, Blu-ray & DVD)

Eric Leiser seems out of place in the USA. We first came across the talented animator with his feature film Imagination, an experimental fusion of live action, stop motion animation and other techniques as much at home in an art gallery - there are rumblings of future screenings at the Moma - as in the theater. Leiser's work feel much more European than American in approach, which should probably come as no surprise since he honed his craft in Prague.
And now he's back with Glitch in the Grid, another fusion of live action with a variety of stop motion techniques. Leiser moves from fairly traditional model work to large scale manipulation of nature here to create something entirely unique. The cinematography on the live action parts could use a bit more polish but the animation is pretty stunning.

- When you sit down to supper, what do you see before you? A healthy meal, perhaps? The four food groups equally represented and neatly sectioned off on your plate? As appetizing as it all can be, it is a rather limited view of reality. Why see things as they actually are when you can imagine them any other way you would like? While this may not be a chosen philosophy for the young, twin protagonists at the center of independent filmmaker, Eric Leiser’s latest feature, Imagination, it is certainly a much closer interpretation of their reality than the otherwise black and white existence you and I know. Dinner for these girls might feel like a bad acid trip for supposedly normal folk but for them it is an animated experience where the contents of their plates dance in a stormy frenzy and thus provides not only nutritional value but enlightenment as well.
