While the "Arthur" reboot starring Russell Brand, Helen Mirren, Greta Gerwig and Jennifer Garner looks like a total disaster, at least on the music front, the filmmakers have made an inspired decision. Speaking to the Mirror at the Shockwaves NME Awards earlier this week Brit DJ, producer and artist Mark Ronson confirmed that he is wrapping up work on the soundtrack for "Arthur" saying, “I’m doing the music for 'Arthur.' Arctic Monkeys are up for seven accolades at this year’s Shockwave NME Awards. The ‘Crying Lightning’ hitmakers are in the running for Best British Band, Best Album Artwork, Best Live Band, Best Track, Best Video and Best Album and Worst Album for 'Humbug', while frontman Alex Turner is up for two additional awards – Hottest Man and Hero of the Year. Fellow rockers Kasabian are the Monkeys’ biggest rivals, with six nominations including Best Album for 'West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum'. Alex, 24, said: “It’s a good thing knowing we’re still up for these awards. Kasabian have said that there aren’t any other proper rock bands apart from us and them. “I don’t necessarily agree completely but I know what they’re saying. I think we’re just co-existing very nicely.” Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan said: “It’s been a big year for us and being nominated...

The shortlist of this year's nominations at the Shockwaves NME Awards have been revealed on Monday, January 25 during a launch party at the London Tabernacle with a live performance from The Maccabees. Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian lead the pack with six nods each.
The two bands are up against each other for Best British Band, Best Live Band, Best Track, Best Video, Giving It Back Award and Best Album. While Kasabian receive their sixth nods in Best Album Artwork, Arctic Monkeys get their last gongs in Worst Album for their latest studio album "Humbug".
In the Worst Album, this band face off last year's "champ" Jonas Brothers as well as U2, Lady GaGa and Green Day. Despite having the chance to walk home with the Worst Album, they are still grateful for the nominations.
"It's a good thing knowing we're still up for these awards," member Alex Turner told The Daily Star.

The ceremony of Shockwaves NME Awards 2009 has been wrapped up and it is unveiled that Oasis and Jonas Brothers are among the recipients for the annual music awards show for two completely different reasons. While Oasis were given the ultimate honor of being Best British Band, Jonas Brothers were handed out two of the Worst titles, Worst Band and Worst Album.
On Wednesday, February 25, at the O2 Academy Brixton, the Manchester band Oasis came out victorious over Muse and Radiohead among others. Though unable to attend the ceremony due to live commitments in Europe, the band sent acceptance video featuring also host Russell Brand. "This is ironic, we're being given Best British Band by the second best British comedian," Noel Gallagher jokingly said. "Thanks to all the readers who've voted...
