After an interview with Jerry Rice goes south, a network executive suspends Sports Action Team. Kevin, Katie, Al, Anthony, and Steven all use their forced time away to pursue other interests while Nicole schemes to get the show back on the air. She succeeds only to have the team fail short of network expectations and get suspended a second time. This time it's a groundswell of fan support that puts the team back behind the desk. Cleveland Brown Eric Steinbach joins Sports Action Team for a relay race From Chicago to Madison, WI. Al, however, is out of shape and has a difficult time running...until he receives a ghostly intervention from the spirit of a famous long distance runner. Anthony, meanwhile, is upset about the lack of respect he gets from his family and friends, so he sets out to prove that he still "has it" by trying out for the Arena Football League's Chicago Rush.

It's Halloween and Niki is getting mail from viewers complaining about seeing a ghost in the show. Katie thinks the ghost is real but the rest of the crew believes it just Steven unwittingly stepping in front of the camera. The team is invited to Mike Ditka's for a Halloween party to play games and tell some very scary Sports Action Team stories.
2007
The team is in peril as Kevin loses his will to report, Steven damages his eyes due to unnecessary lasik eye surgery, and Al and Anthony are chased by a singing Olympic skier who seems to show up everywhere. After enlisting the help of Katie, all looks lost when Kevin befriends and spends all his time with his Notre Dame idol, Jeff Samardzija. The remaining Sports Action Team members must fight to regain eye sight, get Kevin back, and escape from their stalking singer-songwriter.
