A veteran of the live theater. Clarice Blackburn brought her booming voice to the character of Mrs. Sarah Johnson, the outspoken, spooky housekeeper to the late Bill Malloy who is now in cahoots with Burke Devlin to find out the truth about Roger's involvement in Bill's death. They create a ploy for Mrs. Johnson to publicly denounce Burke for being morally responsible for Malloy's death so Elizabeth will hire her and give Sarah the opportunity to get the goods on Roger. Blackburn, who would not only grace over half a dozen daytime soaps but later write for them as well, is an absolute scene stealer. Some younger viewers might call her acting hammy, but her theater training is perfect for what she gives to the vital character of Mrs. Johnson.
The other part of the episode also concerns Mrs. Johnson with David Collins worried that she will be hired on as housekeeper and be used to keep a severe eye on him. It's an opportunity for young David Henesy to work with Mitchell Ryan who somehow looked different in this episode. I had to confirm that they hadn't replaced him for this episode. Kathryn Leigh Scott and David Ford offer good support to Blackburn, Ryan and Henesy in this episode which Blackburn easily steals, even with the final of her shot just looking on at Ryan and the others, using her eyes to say what others couldn't even muster with a dozen words.
