Once again, Hazel shows herself to be wise
AlsExGal25 March 2024
There's a crisis at the Johnson home - Their maid, Phoebe, has just quit and walked out. The Johnsons are so helpless that they'd starve to death with a can of beans in one hand and a can opener in the other - or at least Hazel says so.

Having a big heart, Hazel subs as partial maid for the Johnsons, doing the big jobs but showing them how they are done in the process so that they are not quite so helpless. She also interviews maids for the Johnsons. One has the military precision of General George Patton, the other is a total butterfingers. Both of these situations annoy George - His lunch schedule is disrupted by Hazel pinch hitting for the Johnsons, and the maids that Hazel is trying out are becoming like an obstacle course.

All of this comes together with a solution that is perfect for the Johnsons as well as the new maid.

I wasn't surprised that Phoebe would walk out and leave the Johnsons in the lurch. At Thanksgiving she went off to visit her relatives and left them with a completely stuffed turkey, and said that all they had to do was pop it in the oven. You might as well have asked them to perform their own EKG!
