Onir's new Hindi film Shab will introduce Bangla superstar Prosenjit's wife Arpita Pal as the female lead. The film will not only transform Arpita's traditional Bengali beauty's image into a hip South Delhi socialite, it will also cast her as a woman in love with a younger one. Apparently Prosenjit was scandalized when he heard the role offered to his wife by Onir. Arpita who is considered one of the finest contemporary actresses in Bengal voluntarily gave up her career to be Mrs. Prosenjit and to look after their daughter, emerging from her self-imposed exile to do the occasional film, like the late Rituparno Ghosh's last released film Satyawanshi. Onir says it took all his persuasive powers to get her on board for this project. "I had actually gone to meet Prosenjit. He had expressed a keenness to work with me. When I went to meet him Prosenjit's wife walked in.

Mumbai, Dec 29: Composer Mithoon, known for providing music in films like "The Train" and "Bas Ek Pal", says he does not believe in songs that objectify women as it goes against his religious beliefs.
"My motive is not to create music that is against god. Like, I am a Christian and Jesus Christ had forgiven even a prostitute and gave her respect in front of everyone. Being a devotee of Jesus, if I make songs like 'Fevicol se' and 'Munni badnaam', then what is the way I am presenting women?," the 27-year-old said here Friday in an interview.
"Then I would have no right to call myself Christian. That is why I would never make vulgar.

Music composer Mithoon who made an impressive debut with Onir's Bas Ek Pal went on to give outstanding music in films like Anwar, The Train, Murder 2 and Jism 2. It is now learnt that music baron Bhushan Kumar has roped Mithoon for a three film deal under his banner of T-Series. Although the details of the films are being tightly guarded, one does learn that this may be Mithoon's first to sign up such a deal. Apparently, the composer doesn't play more than a song or two during music sittings. However, when he sat down to discuss the tunes with Bhushan, he ended up sharing 7 songs in one go and Bhushan loved them all. Confirming the reports, Bhushan jubilantly says, "Yes it's true that I've signed Mithoon for three of my films. I was thrilled to hear the songs he played me and I didn't want to miss even one of them.

Click above for more movie stills Director Onir believes in taking the unconventional route. Right from his directorial debut My Brother Nikhil to Bas Ek Pal to his new outing Sorry Bhai [Shabana Azmi, Boman Irani, Sanjay Suri, Sharman Joshi, Chitrangda], Onir has always opted for stories that defy the stereotype. Sorry Bhai has a bold story to tell as well and Onir narrates it with utmost sensitivity. When you've powerful names in the cast, expecting power-packed performances becomes mandatory. No wonder, Sorry Bhai boasts of superior performances, but the one who steals the show is Sharman Joshi, who's getting better and better with every film. He depicts the turmoil with such precision that it stays with you even after you've left the auditorium. Sorry Bhai charters a new path as far as its story is concerned and it would be interesting to see how the viewers of today take to this tale.
