A Wednesday was a film that I needed to watch desperately. I had been disillusioned by the quality of work being produced of late in which for one average film like Rock On we had so many degraded ones like C Kompany, Money Hai To Honey Hai, Hijack etc etc. Here's a film which is refreshingly new, offering one and a half hour of swift action and an ending that is unpredictable to say the least.

Writer-Director Neeraj Pandey have made an incredible debut with A Wednesday because it is one of those rare socially relevant films that are also entertaining. Not just Naseerudding Shah but every single actor (Anupam Kher, Jimmy Shergill, Aamir Bashir) has given a worthy performance.

A Wednesday is a story of about 4-5 hours real time in which a man threatens to blast several bombs in Mumbai lest his wishes are fulfilled. Now this premise may have been abused a few times earlier but believe me, this one's right on target with a solid script.

Credit should also be given to the master editing of the film which does not let it get slack at any point of time and ensures that the tension and drama accumulate. Also the producers have given some effort to make sure that the technical aspects of such terrorist activities do not like gimmicky, which has often been the case in "serious" Hindi films.

I have eight out of ten for A Wednesday, but it will remain my favourite 8/10 movie for quite sometime! [:)]
