You can't give an I.O.U. to the U.P.S. for a C.O.D. They might call the F.B.I.

Eager to make *some* money, Jack agrees to paint the apartment building for Stanley. While doing this, he is able to peer inside his own bedroom, where he witnesses Chrissy taking money from his dresser drawer. Janets' pen has gone missing, and later Jack & Janet see Chrissy wearing Helens' shawl. This leads them to believe that Chrissy has developed a compulsion to steal things.

Yet another in the long line of 'Three's Company' misunderstandings, 'The Kleptomaniac' delivers lively, priceless fun. Jack is hilarious as always, especially when he does a pratfall falling off the ladder, or when he won't stop jumping for joy with Chrissy later. More hilarity results when Jack & Janet attempt to hide the shawl from Stanley, who's come into their kitchen and then goes into their fridge for a drink. The guy is pretty unobservant, even when you'd think he'd have the kids dead to rights!

All in all, the plot is pretty indicative of how the characters too often just jump to conclusions, assume the worst, and underestimate each other.

One of my favorite bits is right at the beginning, this classic exchange between the Ropers:

"How long can you stand to look at something so faded and drab?" (Helen is referring to the building.)

"I don't know. (beat) How long have we been married?" (Followed by another of Norman Fells' priceless "breaking the fourth wall" moments.)

Eight out of 10.
