Dark Dark Dark and not in a good way
arfdawg-122 January 2014
Remington, a murderous grifter cons his way into a mother's heart, putting on a fatherly facade to her cherished son, Nicholas.

But the second she leaves for work, a torrent of abuse rains upon the gentle boy.

Remington heads out for some hookers and invites his dilettante-child molester-drug-dealer buddy over to abuse Nicholas.

In the meantime, the only comfort the boy gets is in confiding with his new pet bunny.

Debauchery is at hand but Nicholas is nowhere to be found but someone wearing the mask of the beloved holiday hopper shows up ready to deliver a blood-splattered night of unspeakable carnage.

It's an OK movie directed like 70s slasher films.

BUT these's a BIG problem with this movie! It's filmed SO DARK, you can barely see the killer scenes. I mean dark beyond belief. I don't know if that was intentional or just shoddy filmmaking, but it really takes points away from the film.

not for everybody
trashgang30 November 2010
Always looking out for independents I came across this flick at a horror convention. Already heard that it wasn't your average horror I tried it out. I didn't regret it but I can understand that some will tear it down. It is really a slow starter, before things really go wrong it takes 45 minutes into the film. The first 45 minutes it's all about getting to know the new formed family and the wrong things about the stepfather. But luckily there are some misleads in the plot. Just when you think that the stepfather is the bad guy, with naked chicks and licking drugs from their titties, yes there's nudity, you will see something different happening and from that point on, it's gore galore. Of course, it's a low budget so they had to hide that with the effects used, so they chose to put the electricity down in the house and let the victims use flashlights. By doing that, the effects really look gory. The blood flows frequently. All actors are believable but I can understand that the retarded one is for some hard to swallow. I'm used to see old exploitations but here it was a bit waiting before the action starts but the use of some shots from the eye point of the mask really worked (remember Halloween). Glad that I have seen the unrated version, guess it was the first Easter flick I watched.

Warning: Spoilers
Easter Bunny Kill! Kill! (2006) is a movie I recently watched for free off Tubi. This low budget picture ($90,000) that tells the tale of a mother raising a handicapped child whose world was flipped upside down on Easter years ago. The child's last happy memory of his family together was on Easter so that's his favorite holiday. When a new, verbally abusive man enters his mother's life their entire world is about to be flipped upside down. This movie is directed by Chad Ferrin (The Ghouls) and stars Charlotte Marie, Trent Haaga (Kill Joy's Carnage Caravan) and Timothy Muskstell (The Deep One). The writing for this had so much potential and I loved the ending. The storyline comes to a perfect conclusion in this. The acting and execution is unfortunately uneven. There's times this is fluid and believable and times this tries to be more than it is. The cinematography was blah, but this is a movie that if redone with a budget could be really good. Loved the opening and the cocaine car ride as well as the conclusion as referenced. Overall I'd strongly recommend seeing this once and would recommend being patient till the end. I'd score this a 6/10.

Your daddy's dead, dummy!
xghs9 July 2010
Judging from its title alone, Easter Bunny, Kill!, Kill! would appear to be little more than a parody of seasonally themed slasher flicks. Miraculously, perhaps, Chad Ferrin's film is the rare gore-fest that can actually stand on its own merits as a prime cut of blood-drenched grind-house horror. Nicholas is a 16-year-old boy with the mental capacity of a 6-year-old. More than anything else, he believes that the Easter Bunny not only is real, but someday will rescue him from a life of poverty and abuse by the men in his mother's life.

Her latest boyfriend is a sadistic grease ball, who, when mom's back is turned, torments the harmless child. If that weren't enough, in return for cocaine he'll use to lure hookers to his home, the jerk allows a truly perverted friend to "party" with the boy. Just describing that scenario makes my skin crawl. Never fear, though. Before the creep can get his grimy hands on Nicholas, the boy's Guardian Bunny arrives to save him from harm. That much could have been expected, I think. What follows is less predictable than one might expect.

Although most people wouldn't be able to get past the title credits, fans of the genre should find something besides the gory killings to admire. We're not talking Psycho or The Shining here, though. Easter Bunny was made on a budget estimated to be in the neighborhood of $95,000 and it looks it. As for the marketing budget, I'm pretty sure the title on the DVD cover will sell itself. – Gary Dretzka

Wholesome Family Entertainment part 13: Hookers & Cocaine
Tromafreak24 April 2011
After watching Chad Ferrin's Unspeakable, I had mixed feelings. On one hand, it's disturbing and gory. On the other hand, it's not really a good movie, at all. It gets kinda dull, at times. Then again, it was disturbing and gory. Ultimately, I was left feeling like Chad Ferrin's debut was missing something. It wasn't until just recently, that I discovered what that something may have been. A cute little bunny wabbit!!

Easter Bunny Kill! Kill!, being only the second Chad Ferrin Film I've seen, really caught me off guard. While remaining disturbing and gory. this one offers a little something called comic-relief, and that's Troma-esque comic-relief, for the record. And this means the good 'ol sleaziness is turned way up. Easter Bunny kill! Kill! is about a mentally-handicapped teenager named Nicholas, who absolutely adores Easter. Nicholas also loves his mother very much. But recently, the long-time single mom has been dating a vicious ex-con named Remington. That's right. Remington! This guy is bad news. And he has very little patience for Nicholas. While putting on a happy face when mom is around, the abusive Remington is plotting to "rent out" Nicholas to his pal, the pedophile, so that he can afford hookers and cocaine. Nicholas seems to think his beloved pet bunny rabbit is gonna save the day. Poor kid. Oh yeah! I almost forgot. There's a killer in a rabbit mask about, You see, Easter is coming up, and well, this is a holiday-themed Horror film in case you didn't know.

I'm thinking this Chad Ferrin guy is really on to something. There's only a handful of people out there truly capable of making new school Exploitation the right way. The old school way. An extremely grimy, filthy, unapologetic vibe with this one. Nicholas is not portrayed in the usual kind fashion we see in the more PC mainstream flicks like The Ringer. And don't even get me started on Remington's pal, the pedophile. That guy is all kinds of disturbing. Need any more reasons to give this movie a chance? Well, Nicholas's mom is really hot. And let's not forget about the legendary Trent Haaga. No, can't forget that. Anyone looking for a good double feature, I'd suspect Easter Bunny Kill! Kill! would go well with a Zombie flick called Special Dead. So, for all you veteran lovers of underground Horror, who's starting to think there's no more old school stuff to unearth, give this modern trash a chance. You just might love it. And for the record, I'm sure there's still plenty more old school stuff out there. Just keep looking. 8/10

Easter Grindhouse style!
Stevieboy66631 March 2018
A nasty, abusive criminal cons his way into the arms (and home) of a hard working single mother & her Easter-obsessed disabled son. This low budget indie flick has sex, sleaze, drugs, humour & lots of gore. After a slow start ("character development") things just go crazy, but coherent, & I kept wondering "what's gonna happen next?" Thankfully this is more than just a basic slasher movie about a killer in an Easter Bunny mask, the main characters here do actually matter. Highly recommended for lovers of sleazy horror!

Small budget, big ideas
pippsta19 August 2006
Warning: Spoilers
This is true low budget indie horror film-making with brains. I can't wait to see what these guys come up with once they have decent funding. Tim Muskatell pulls off a villain that has layers to his character, even if each is a layer of a personality you don't like. He is like the sleazy love child of Ron Jeremy and a Baldwin brother. Ricardo Gray plays a special needs teen that you can relate to and make you wish you had a bunny to take care of your problems also. Charlotte Marie is beautiful and is an actress that I would like to see more work from. David Z. Stamp was so creepy in his few minutes that I wanted to go check on my own sons to make sure they were OK. Producer/actor Trent Haaga's role provides a pillar of stability amid all the dysfunction presented in the film. This movie, along with Chad Ferrin's other works, are like sampling food at Costco - tasty tidbits that melt in your mouth, but don't quite fill you up. Given the proper funding and opportunity, he will be able to make a feast that will leave you full for days. I can't wait...

This bunny is a killer!
eer857 March 2010
EASTER BUNNY, KILL! KILL! is a small gem of micro-budget exploitation, a twisted little movie with bite. The premise is the quintessential slasher movie routine: a handful of characters confined in a house at the mercy of a masked killer. But instead of students and cheerleaders, this house is packed with fat pedophiles, hookers and sleazy, cocaine-sniffing criminals. Writer-director Chad Ferrin has a personal angle on the genre: in an age of remakes and fanboy films, his work does own the rare virtue of an individual voice. While most sleaze-abundant movies do sound pretentious, this one in particular feels uncomfortably sincere. As with Jim Van Bebber, Ferrin's movies are not for everybody: if you want a MTV-friendly horror movie, then stay away from this one.

"What Kinda Monster Do You Think I Am?!"...
azathothpwiggins29 April 2019
In EASTER BUNNY, KILL! KILL!, Mindy Simmons and her disabled son Nicholas (Charlotte Marie and Ricardo Ray) are planning on spending a nice Easter time together. Mindy also has a surprise for her son. She has a new boyfriend, named Remington (Timothy Muskatell). Unbeknownst to the Simmons', Remington happens to be a heartless murderer.

Upon his arrival, Remington pretty much moves in and takes over. When Mindy finds herself in need of a babysitter for Nicholas, Remington happily volunteers. Unfortunately, he has plans of his own for the evening, involving drugs, prostitutes and a freakish "friend" who has an unsavory interest in Nicholas!

What Remington and his fellow frolickers don't know is that their party is about to be interrupted by grisly slaughter! Has the Easter Bunny shown up to dole out the retribution?

Bizarre, funny, and brutally violent, this movie will make the gorehounds soar heavenward with glee, while others may flee from the room! For such a low-budget film, the effects are quite good, and the acting is far better than expected. Even the cheeeze-level is lower than most movies of this sub-genre.

Highly entertaining!...

Grab your mates for some fun!
jaymie2415 September 2006
I saw Easter Bunny Kill Kill the way it was meant to be viewed, a bunch of mates, beers and popcorn. This film is not a physclocial thriller, with well-involved plot lines and dramatic interludes, this film is Horror movie fun, the way it's meant to be!!! The film has all the elements that will make this be a highly talked about B-Movie. The Story is quite different than the usual slasher flick; instead of helpless D-Cupped teenagers being stalked, we have hardened crims and lowlifes, so you feel OK for cheering for the Easter Bunny killer. The main role of Nicholas (Ricardo Gray) as a young teenager with mental problem can be off putting at the start think that he is just an actor, but after the first few minutes you get really sucked into his story and you feel for the poor boy as he is tormented by the villains. The visual effect of Easter Bunny Kill Kill is by far the best I have seen in any other of Chad Ferrins films, and makes the fun of gore, just that little bit more fun. All in all, EBKK is the film that you must get all your horror movie buddy's to come around, crack open a brew and laugh, scream and cheer your way into this great film!

Ferrin does it again
woods_k24 September 2006
Chad Ferrin shocked me with Unspeakable, blew me away with The Ghouls, and rocks the house with Easter Bunny Kill Kill. Muskatell impresses yet again, this time playing one twisted puppy named Remington, a criminal lowlife who sweet talks his way into the home of Mindy, a nurse with a special needs son. After a shocking opening and initial introduction of the main characters it doesn't take long for the fun stuff (the murders) to begin.

What is interesting to note about this picture is the disturbing performance by David Stamp as Ray, a pedophile who has a thing for special needs children. Creepy is the word that best describes his performance.

Ferrin continues to impress and I can't wait to see what he has for us in the future.

The Easter Bunny doesn't like you....
FrightMeter9 August 2010
Following in the tradition of the slasher genre, Easter Bunny, Kill! Kill! uses a beloved holiday as the backdrop for a madman's murderous rampage. However, instead of stalking babysitters or sorority sisters, this film tells a much more interesting and sinister tale.

Mindy, a single mother of a sixteen year old mentally challenged son, Nicholas, struggles with the responsibilities involved in raising a special needs child. She often works double shifts at her nursing job and relies on the wife of her handyman for childcare. So when Rem, a smooth talking and by all appearances, a genuinely nice, caring guy comes into her life, she instantly begins to have feelings for him. However, Nicholas is immediately suspicious and takes an instant disliking to Rem, and for very good reason. Turns out Rem is really a cruel, low-life drug addict with ulterior motives. He is cruel to Nicholas when Mindy is not around, calling him degrading names and threatening to kill her new pet rabbit if Nicholas tells. When called into work a double shift on Easter day, Mindy, with really no other option, allows Rem to care for Nicholas. Rem immediately calls his pedophile friend and sells Nicholas to him for the evening while Rem goes out in search of hookers and drugs. When the pedophile arrives to have his way with Nicholas, it doesn't take long for a psychopath wearing an Easter Bunny mask to show up and begin wreaking havoc with various electrical tools. When Rem finally shows back up to the home with his hookers, the stage is set for a bloody showdown.

Though far from perfect, Easter Bunny, Kill! Kill! is an ambitious entry into the holiday themed horror genre. The tone of the film is its most effective asset, at while some may find it a tad too cruel at times, it will, without a doubt, stir at least some emotion in even the most hardened horror fans. Apart from the inclusion of such sensitive subjects as the treatment of people with disabilities and pedophilia, the film possesses a grittiness and atmosphere that is unsettling at times. Despite the simple and confined setting of a small, suburban house, the director is able to create some serious tense and suspenseful scenes, mostly involving the various victims making their way through the hallways of the home, which are covered in plastic on both sides because of renovations. The use of the plastic is hugely effective as the viewer at times knows the homicidal rabbit is lurking its prey from somewhere behind it. The deaths are fairly brutal and bloody as heads are drilled, circular saws are wielded, and hammers and brought down. Though the deaths are nasty, they are never over the top, and since most of the victims are vile human beings, these is slight sense of justice. The actors, for the most part, are highly committed to their roles. Timothy Muskatell is truly outstanding as Rem and viewers will be truly disgusting by him.

Still, though the film is highly effective, some will be quick to point out its flaws. The low budget does, at times, show. Some of the scenes, particularly ones involving Nicholas talking to his pet rabbit, come off as extremely cheesy and cringe-worthy. Since the first real kill by the maniacal rabbit doesn't come until at least the halfway point, some may be turned off by pacing, subject matter, and questionable depiction of a mentally challenged teen. Additionally, some scenes are unnecessary and late attempts at humor fall flat and don't complement the overall tone of the film. Though I am sure some figured out the identity of the killer, I was actually pleasantly surprised, though the last few minutes of the film were rather unbelievable and a tad to tidy and storybook.

Overall, Easter Bunny, Kill! Kill! is highly effective, low-budget tribute to exploitative grindhouse films of the 70's and slasher films of the 80's. There are some truly creepy, atmospheric, and disturbing scenes, and though the film is a cheesy in parts and seem to loose focus a few times, it is a welcomed and highly recommended entry into the holiday themed horror catalog.

This hits the mark. A classic!!
ngwttintl26 December 2006
I hate to get peoples hopes up but this is a great horror film. There has been so much crap released in this new wave of so called horror films, and I think I hate them all. I'm so sick of every horror film trying to capture the 70's greatness and also the Seven/NIN style films have all been garbage. "Easter Bunny Kill Kill" is a stand alone great film leaving the rest of the losers in the dust.

I've seen Chad Ferrin's "Unspeakable" and "The Ghouls" and liked them both. They were enjoyable but still a bit flawed. I'll explain. Chad Ferrin has a great style that blends disturbing realism with true horror. Realism and horror that actually reminds me more of Abel Ferrera than George Romero. I personally love how he dives into the seediness of his characters and their surroundings. "Unspeakable", to me, shined in it's use of disturbing scenes and brutal characters. It's been so long since I've seen it I can't even really recall the plot, but I do remember some of the great scenes. In "The Ghouls" I felt Ferrin seemed to want to concentrate more on the characters rather than the ghouls themselves. I couldn't agree more, the characters and surroundings in "The Ghouls" were excellent. I almost wish that whole movie was just about the downfall of Timothy Muskatell's character. (By the way Muskatell rules. He might be the best living actor. Warren Oates is dead. ) "The Ghouls" was about Muskatell's downfall, I just wish the ghouls themselves didn't get in the way. Again Ferrin's style was rich, but I feel even he wished it remained a portrait movie.

"Easter Bunny Kill Kill" hits the ball way out of the park. It is a slasher movie plain and simple, but it's a slasher movie done Ferrin style. The story is awesome, the characters are classic, the way all the characters meet is brilliant and realistic. Muskatell again rules, but every actor in the movie is perfectly cast. Wow. This is the only modern day horror film I truly love. It all works so well.

A true ClasSICK!
Deadbeatfan15 October 2006
Easter Bunny Kill Kill! takes place on Easter eve and Easter. Easter is young retarded Nicholas's favorite Holiday. Nicholas's mother Mindy is a single mom who has a scum bag boyfriend named Remington played flawlessly by Tim Muskatell. Mindy leaves Remington to take care of Nick on Easter and help him have fun but once she leaves Remington takes great pleasure in abusing Nicholas and even sells his body to be molested. Tonight the Easter Bunny will take revenge for Nicholas.

Easter Bunny Kill! Kill! is by far the best modern horror movie that i've seen in a long time aside from other modern classics like The Devils Rejects and Slither. This movie has a sick since of humor to it and is fun to watch. This movie is not a safe horror movie like the mainstream ones being made today. This is a type of horror movie that you would see being made in the 1970's,its brutal and doesn't hold back. There is some great acting in this film, Tim Muskatell and Trent Haaga steal the spotlight with their great talents. If your a true horror movie fan and if you enjoy movies like The Last House On The Left then check this movie out! If your a fan of underground directors like Jim Van Bebber then check this movie out! If your a fan of good horror movies in general then go and see this movie! True underground horror film making is back with the forces of Chad Ferrin and Trent Haaga!

Modern Day Exploitation is a good thing!!
burningmetalband18 August 2006
Where do I start? This movie has it all and I mean it all. "Special Kid" who's obsessed with Easter, a hot Nurse mother, a sleaze bag boyfriend, a pedophile, a Mexican named Horhay, and much, much more. This movie was shot with very little money, but is worth millions. I can't speak too much about the movie without spoiling all of the surprises...and there are many surprises along the way. This movie was the best I've seen in a long time that tried to capture the intenseness of exploitation, but what separates this one from the others is that it actually does it, at times it was like watching a movie from the exploitation era. And the ending is a truly great ending that needs to be seen to be believed. When this movie is released buy it or rent it, you must see the movie, you will not be disappointed, I was one of the lucky ones to receive a screener, but I will buy it when it is released.

Very Solid Movie
tromatized-119 August 2006
This movie has good production value for what they had to work with. It has a good, eerie feeling to it. It is dark and there is empathetic connection to the family. All of Chad Ferrin's work is disturbing in one way or another (See Unspeakable and The Ghouls), but always in a the best way possible. Trent Haaga is a God. If you like B-Movies the way I do I think you will enjoy this movie. I liked the cinematography and the approach to the characters. There is a lot of cool violent scenes. I only wish there was even more gore. Tim Muskatell is such a great actor. He really brings some heavy stuff into low end productions. It is always a treat to watch his work. I wasn't familiar with Charlotte Marie and Ricardo Gray before, but I will keep one eye out for more of their work. All in all, an enjoyable movie.

Easter Bunny, Kill! Kill! (2006)

*** (out of 4)

Mentally challenged Nicholas (Ricardo Gray) loves the easter bunny but his poor mom (Charlotte Marie) keeps bringing home jerks. The latest one (Timothy Muskatell) is one of the worst and when mommy goes to work he starts to abuse the young boy but have no fear because a psycho with a bunny mask shows up. EASTER BUNNY, KILL! KILL! is 100% of a trashy "B" movie but it's a fun one that manages to be rude, crude and best of all entertaining. Now, just because I gave this three stars doesn't mean that everyone and their grandmother should run out and see it. The appeal of this film is going to be extremely limited so unless you're a fan of gory, dirty and rather obscene movies then it's best to stay away from this thing. I mean, after all there's a scene where the jerk boyfriend sells the retarded kid to a child molester in exchange for some cocaine! As you can see, the humor in this thing is extremely dark and the first fifty-minutes or so mainly focus on the dirty jokes. Director-writer Chad Ferrin spent some of his early career at Troma and it's easy to see their stamp all over this film. The jokes are all rather tasteless and especially the various scenes where the teenage boy is being abused. The gory/horror elements happen after most of the comedy and these scenes deliver as well. We're not talking the work of Tom Savini here but I thought the gore effects were good considering the budget and at least there was plenty of the red stuff to go around. For such a low-budget "B" movie I was really shocked to see how much of the stuff here was above average. This included the performances, the special effects and even the look of the film was quite professional. Best of all are a couple twists that happen in the last ten minutes, which I certainly won't ruin but I thought both of them worked extremely well. Again, EASTER BUNNY, KILL! KILL! isn't a film for sensitive viewers but those who like things dark should get a kick out of it.

Loved this!!!
nigeleye4 July 2010
It's easy to forget while you're watching "Easter Bunny, Kill! Kill!" that this is not an authentic 70's slasher, grindhouse, exploitation flick. All of the elements are there, the angry psycho, the blaxploitation nurse, prostitutes, illegal immigrants, an unbalanced mother, the odd paedophile and a mentally handicapped teenager with a passionate devotion to his rabbit.

There's also a good level of gore thanks to an assortment of house hold power tools and the twisted storyline certainly keeps your attention throughout. Add in the fact that the slasher wears a cool Easter bunny mask, and you've got a film that is well paced and hard to dislike.

Some of the gore is pretty in your face, and let's be honest some of the scenes are pretty hard to take (Poor Nicholas!) but the film is filled with some great sleazy dialogue, the odd twist and turns and is frequently disturbing. Genuinely a fantastic watch! I'd strongly recommend you check this one out. Get your friends around, crack open a beer and watch this with an open mind. Chad Ferrin and his perverse, twisted view of the world is certain to appeal to fans of horror, cult or just the plain weird.

I'm totally in!

Fresh Meat!
kimferreira12 February 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Every moment of Easter Bunny Kill Kill is fresh and unique; from one murder to the next. Most of the action takes place on Easter, which makes for a very interesting theme throughout the movie.

One facet that makes it truly original and wonderful to watch, is the cute little white "Easter bunny" that hops aimlessly around the house while gruesome murders are taking place left and right. You expect the bunny will fall prey to the mayhem, but the writer skillfully manages to create a peaceful aura around her. In each scene she is the peace before the storm - or bloodbath in this case. Such an imaginative part of the movie! The characters are fascinating and genuinely disturbing on their own. Together, they are even more nightmarish. Remington and Ray are by far the most vile and unnerving, at least until the end. The end of the movie turns an intriguing twist that both surprised and shocked me.

I have been lucky enough to see two of Chad Ferrin's movies - Easter Bunny Kill Kill and Someone's Knocking at the Door - and have enjoyed them immensely. Can't wait to see more!

Ending made it worthwhile
forest-nymph10 November 2008
Warning: Spoilers
This movie started VERY strong. I was immediately taken with Nick, the special needs boy. He was completely endearing. The torment he endured built the suspense all the way to the first kill. The scenes with the pedophile were the most frighteningly tense in the entire movie.

Then... things got dull. During the middle, the parts with all the blood, I was so bored I almost turned off the movie.

Thank Heaven I didn't. The multiple-twist ending brought the whole thing together. I suddenly understood why some of those people got killed, when it seemed there was no reason for them to die. I admit, I got the warm-fuzzies.

This is a movie that's going on my Easter Viewing list every year (and a few times in between).
