The teachers at Springfield Elementary School strike when Bart stirs up trouble.

This is a strong episode with some good humour and character moments.

It involves another story of Bart taking his bad behaviour to an extreme level and causing humorous chaos in Springfield that sets up a number of characters to be involved in humorous ways, especially Skinner and Krabapple.

My favourite aspect is Lisa's numerous funny reactions to the change in the status quo and the ironic way in how the general situation impacts Bart. Plus, Homer has some excellent one-liners that are delivered exceptionally well.

Those Darned Teachers

Bart exacerbates a teacher's strike but when Marge becomes a substitute, he must face his peers. There are lots of cliches but I thought the final solution was quite good.

Warning: Spoilers
A hard-edged episode of The Simpsons that's for sure. I saw this back when it was first released which was a long time ago, and here I am finally reviewing it online I guess.

Here Bart's mom, Marg, is a substitute teacher when the teachers go on strike, and Marg humiliates Bart unintentionally in the class room to the point that Bart is emasculated.

Uter (Russi Taylor) is hilarious in this episode, but thankfully he returns in future episodes to make us laugh with his Germanic accent.

For me, the first 10 seasons of The Simpsons is the golden era, but I don't mind the occasional episode from season 11 onwards.
