Great episode, great tribute to Kurosawa!
Neuro-48 May 2021
They were showing how each CSI "experienced" the crime scene (through their own mental lenses) and of course no 2 people "see" the same thing. Before I looked at the episode title I thought...this is (Akira) KUROSAWA. Yojimbo? Sanjuro? Episode title is "Rashomama" and then I knew it. "Rashoman"!!

If you can take b&w, old-ish (1960), and subtitled (unless you speak Japanese, then you're good) I highly recommend it. Also...Great job, CSI!

Different Perspectives of a Crime
claudio_carvalho6 February 2023
When the body of the notorious and wealthy defense lawyer Diane Chase is dragged by a convertible driven by her son and his wife with beer cans after their wedding, Greg, Nick and Sara investigate the case. They collect evidences including interviews of workers and guests along eleven hours. Greg and Sara are having breakfast at a coffee shop and Nick joins them. Out of the blue, his truck with the evidences is stolen. Grissom and Capt. Brass arrive and Grissom says that the evidences are compromised, even if recovered. Diane was the lawyer of the mobster Dino Fatelli, who was sentenced to life recently, and her death is in the press. Further, Internal Affairs will interview them. Now, Sara, Nick and Greg use their remembrances expecting to find what have happened.

"Rashomama" is an episode of "CSI" with a tribute to "Rashomon", from the master Akira Kurosawa. The different perspectives of the death of the notorious lawyer Diane Chase is shown in flashbacks until the team learns the truth. My vote is eight.

DUDE, Where's Your Car?
kcsnowhite716 December 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I have watched this episode 3, maybe 4 times, aside from those that involve Lady Heather - THIS is one of my favorites. The scenes with Gregg shot in Black-and-White and whole "Detective"-thing was very entertaining. The opening scene was a shocker with the attorney/mother of the groom being dragged behind the car. However, the scene that immediately follows has all the CSI's all sitting in the same diner they always frequent - Gregg looks at Nick and says: "Dude, Where's your car?" It went from moderately intense to hysterically funny. I thought the entire dialog was 'genius!' Oh, the music was perfect! It's definitely NOT your "typical" CSI, but it's most DEFINITELY worth the watch! Enjoy, I did (over and over again)!

Top Notch Episode
sloppy_tuna12 November 2019
Veronica Cartwright's deliciously viscous performance is reason enough to make this a don't miss episode- mix in Ray Wise, Amanda and Rachel, the humor threaded throughout the episode (especially involving the cast regulars) and an extremely well written story and you get a CSI that belongs on any top ten episodes list ever made.

One of the best
jadaudel20 October 2015
One of the best, why because it made me smile and that is what we all need to do more of now days, it is all most as good as the one about the boxer found in the pool, or the one with the gal from married with children in it, again why because it made me smile Hate to say it the other CSI shows are not as good and never will be. The show will be missed. But when Will (Bill) left the show started to lack and that is when i stop watching it. So at this point i would like say Thank you to the actor's and the rest of the staff for one great show. It would be nice if yet one more movie could be made some time later down the road just for the heck of it.

Sometimes You Just Gotta Laugh

This is the wedding from hell. The gang is called after the mother of the groom is dragged behind the groom's convertible as they leave the wedding. This mother is a mob lawyer and is the definition of a virago. She is literally hated by everyone at the wedding. After gathering evidence, Catherine, Sarah, Greg, and Nick eat at a greasy spoon. While there, Nick's car is stolen. Unfortunately, it contained all the evidence they had gathered. So before they face the music from internal affairs, they work to piece together the evidence from memory. This was a clever piece, played for fun, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

"Come For The Wedding, Stay For The Funeral"
ccthemovieman-127 April 2007
In startling opening, we see a bride and groom happily waving as they leave in a convertible following the wedding. Dragging behind them are not tin cans, but a dead person. Next, we see Gregg, Sara and Nick discussing how long the crime scene took with Nick saying the sentence I used here as the subject head.

This episode was really horrible, one of the worst I've ever seen in the six years of watching this show. It tried to be funny and smart-ass, and wound up only being stupid with ludicrous dialog and a nasty, profane edge to the thing, with more smugness than a Chevy Chase film festival. I guess was part of CSI's attempt at black humor.

Everyone in here, even most of the CSI workers, had "attitudes" and one wonders what kind of audience this show is after. This episode is a good example of why I now prefer the New York and Miami spin-offs to this show, which was terrific the first few years but has "pushed the envelop" too much for its own good. The episode was just way too sleazy. It included guest star Veroncia Cartwright. Well, at least she fit in with the rest of these dirt-bags.

This is too dumb even for CSI
interestingstuff23 February 2022
I know CSI isn't known for having the most quality TV and most of its episodes are filler shows that you'd watch late at night when there is nothing else to watch, but this episode is stupid and pointless even for CSI which is known for low-quality content. It's not funny, not entertaining, not intelligent. One of the worst episodes of the show.

Of course it has super high score here for "obvious" reasons. Whenever a TV show makes a non-classical episode it is pretty much guaranteed to get +8.5 here just because it feels "different" than other episodes no matter how terrible it is.
