Bones:The Skull in the Desert
Scarecrow-8814 December 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Angela gives a photographer three weeks out of the year to spend time together in the rugged desert and is scared that a skull found could very well be his. When Bones sends it back to the Jeffersonian lab in DC, Addy and Hodgins confirms what Angela feared all along, that the skull was in fact Kirk's. A Najavo model Kirk uses, Danny, is still missing out there and her whereabouts are crucial, not to mention time is of the essence before she runs out of water, cooking under the sun. Bones elicits help from Booth and the three assist the sheriff(the missing girl's brother), Dawes(James Parks), in trying to find her. It seems that Peyote was found in Kirk's hair and this drug traces back to a white artist who makes a modest living off of Najavo paintings, Wayne Kellogg(Clayton Rohner). Kellogg doesn't make enough to afford his digs in the desert where he lives, and the Peyote had to come from drug dealers. Soon Kellogg is even possibly tied to counterfeiting. Danny also has a Najavo boyfriend who sells Peyote to the white man much to the chagrin of his people. Angela is pretty shaken up in this episode, questioning why she didn't make more of an effort to establish a more viable relationship with Kirk and if she'd ever get such a chance again. Zach and Hodgins often argue tirelessly as to who gets the skull and remains of Kirk first with Goodman making the call, Addy later scolded by Brennan for not getting results to her sooner. Zach is a grad student attached to Brennan and Goodman believes he must eventually grow up and "leave the roost".

Slow and Scattered
Hitchcoc16 January 2023
Each year, Angela has a tryst with a guy who is a desert photographer in New Mexico. She calls Brennan and tells her that he has disappeared and may be dead. She and Booth join her and when a skull is inspected, it turns out she was right. But now we have a cultural thing where there are white people and Native Americans at odds (oh really?). There is a taciturn sheriff who is slow to turn over authority to the gang. But his sister is the guide and she is missing. What transpires is a rather tedious effort to find her. There is also some supernatural stuff going on that ends up turning me off. Not up to the usual quality.

15 weeks is more than I've ever had
This was an... interesting episode. While I loved how it showcases Angela's and Bones' friendship, the whole premise that Angela has (or I guess had 😬) a boyfriend for 3 weeks a year felt so random.

There were also some weird moments: Hodgins just scrolling through photos of Angela on her trip and in a bikini at work? Booth refusing to leave while Bones gets dressed? Bones: "You're not Indian," Wayne: "Not by birth, no" 🤡🤡.

All in all, not a bad episode but definitely not a part of Bones' Greatest Hits. I was a little bored with the crime but enjoyed the interpersonal aspects of the episode. Bones dropped everything for Angela and Booth drop everything for Bones.

A line I loved: "I want you to get federal on his ass"

Hi the Bones Booth :)

Hi Bones Booth!

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was ok not the best. Skull in the bag in a drawer pretty gross. The lines "Who is Dr. Phil some kind of expert? " " He likes to think so" very funny. I wasn't enjoying the cultural appropriation or the way Native Americans were spoken about several times. I love how Bones ran right to Angela after she called and how she was so supportive throughout the whole episode their friendship is incredible.
