I've heard of neighborhoods on Long Island where you must cut your lawn--if you don't, a person will come onto your property, mow your lawn, and charge you for the labor --and the Long Islander who told me about it was all for it!
This is another good episode about friendship between neighbors. I really liked Jerry Paris and Ann Morgan Guilbert in this. You get to see their living room--a bit different from 'All About Eavesdropping'.

The Helpers and Petries hate each other?!?!

"A Vigilante Ripped My Sports Coat" is not one of the funnier installments of "The Dick Van Dyke Show", but it is one of the best written. This is because the plot is rather intricate and they manage to make the Petries AND Helpers think the other apologized for their feud!
Rob donates a torn sports coat to a clothing drive. He then tells about how it got ripped by Jerry Helper and how the pair became enemies....though it does sound unlikely. It seems Jerry and a group of vigilantes were planning on attacking a neighbor's crabgrass-infested yard. Rob points out that they have no right to take such drastic action. So how do they mend fences and become friends again? See it and see how.
As I mentioned, the writing for this one is very good and intricate. I appreciate that and think it's well worth seeing despite a lack of laughs.
