Homer can't decide which is more important: going through a counseling seminar to save his marriage, or skipping out to catch a legendary fish. Back at home, Bart and Lisa try to take advantage of Grandpa, who is their babysitter.

Storyline

After Homer makes a fool of himself at a party, he and Marge go to a mountain retreat to help their marriage. While there, Homer tries to catch a giant catfish named General Sherman. Bart and Lisa throw a wild party when Grandpa is babysitting them.

An unsolicited script from a writer not working on the show - also about Homer and Marge going on a marriage retreat - caused legal problems at the time. To avoid any further problems from this coincidence, the writer was paid $3,000.

Goofs

At the gathering in the beginning of this episode, Homer eventually gets drunk to the point of dancing on the couch with a lampshade on his head and saying "I'm the funniest guy in the world!" Reverend Lovejoy is sitting on the couch when Homer falls over and has his drink spilled on him. In the next shot where Marge looks irritated, Reverend Lovejoy is also in the background (somewhere besides sitting on the couch) looking shocked.
